A biker in his late 20s was hit by a car at the intersection of East 18th Street and Second Avenue this morning at around 9:47 a.m., according to the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.

The biker was riding southbound on Second Avenue when a car making a left hand turn forced him to push the brakes, causing the biker to flip over his handlebars and roll into a line of traffic, said the commanding officer of the 13th Precinct Deputy Inspector Ted Berntsen. The biker was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition. The driver was not injured.
