On Tuesday morning, police arrested a man who allegedly tried to rape a woman in her Stuyvesant Town building on Saturday.
Twenty-year-old Dominique Brown of 2075 First Avenue has been arrested by detectives and charged with Rape 1, Burglary 2 and Sex Abuse.
A police spokesman said he was nabbed due to tips received through the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline. He added that Brown does have prior arrests, but they are sealed.
Information as to Brown’s attorney is not yet available.
Video footage of the suspect, which police released on Monday, showed him waiting inside the building vestibule with his pants open enough to expose himself to the victim when she walked in. He then followed her.
Cops said it was around 3:30 a.m., when a man followed the victim into her apartment building, which has been identified as 245 Avenue C and tried to rape her in the vestibule. The 25-year-old woman was able to fight off the suspect and get away.
