COPS ON LOOKOUT FOR WOMAN WHO STOLE PRICEY WATCHES FROM TWO MEN
Police are looking for a woman who stole watches from two men she accompanied to hotels on different occasions last August. The first incident took place at a Flatiron hotel, the second one in Queens.
Police said that on Friday, August, 21 at around 4 a.m., the woman met the victim, a 35- year-old man, in the Meat Packing District before taking her to the ACE hotel at 20 West 29th Street. When the man fell asleep, the woman took the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore watch worth $55,000 off of his wrist and took off.
Four days later on August 25 at 1 a.m., another man, 28, met up with the woman in front of the Catch Restaurant located at 21 9th Avenue in Chelsea. He then brought her to the Z hotel located 42-45 11th street in Queens. After the man fell asleep, the suspect took the watch off his wrist, another Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore watch worth $50,000, and left.
The suspect is described as Hispanic, approximately 5’8” with long black hair and a light complexion with a tattoo on her hand. Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS .
WOMAN PUNCHED AT 23RD STREET N/R STATION
Police arrested 47-year-old Cleveland Gibbs for allegedly randomly punching a woman on the subway last Wednesday.
The victim said she was at the 23rd Street N/R station at Fifth Avenue at around 10:30 a.m., waiting for the train on the downtown platform when Gibbs punched her in the face for no apparent reason. His fist hit her right cheek, causing swelling and redness. She said that Gibbs then followed her out of the turnstile and walked towards her but when she told him to get away, he walked off. She then followed him out of the station at a safe distance while on the phone with 911 as she gave a description of him. At that time he approached her again but soon backed off, turning around when she told him to get away. He was arrested a short time later.
‘TRESPASSER’ FOUND NAPPING IN GRAMERCY PARK APARTMENT
Police arrested 25-year-old Matthew Chou for criminal trespass inside 49 Gramercy Park North last Saturday at 5:02 a.m. The victim told police that she was woken up to the presence of Chou, who was allegedly sleeping on her couch after entering her apartment and remaining there without permission to do so.
MAN BUSTED FOR ‘DRUGS’ OUTSIDE ST ASSOCIATED
Police arrested 48-year-old Ricky Velez for sale of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance in front of the Stuyvesant Town Associated at 409 East 14th Street last Wednesday at 7:50 a.m. Velez allegedly agreed to sell a quantity of a controlled substance to an undercover officer.
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR MULTIPLE ‘BURGLARIES’
Police arrested 28-year-old Eva Doublerg for an alleged shoplifting spree during which she also bit a store employee, they said. Doublerg allegedly entered various stores on five different occasions and swiped items totaling more than $1,000 each time. During one of the incidents, Doublerg allegedly bit one of the employee’s arms while she was fleeing the scene. Police said that one of the incidents took place inside the CVS at 215 Park Avenue South and another incident was inside the Michael Kors at 133 Fifth Avenue. Doublerg was arrested for burglary and grand larceny last Sunday at 6:45 p.m.
RESTAURANT LAPTOP ‘THIEF’ BUSTED
Police arrested 63-year-old Gerald Russell for burglary and possession of stolen property last Wednesday at noon inside the 13th Precinct. Police said that Russell entered Barn Joo restaurant at 893 Broadway on January 31 at 11:33 p.m. without permission and swiped a laptop that was valued at $500.
MAN ARRESTED FOR ‘ASSAULT’ AT GRAMERCY THEATRE
Police arrested 32-year-old David Medina for assault last Wednesday, saying he intentionally injured another person at the Gramercy Theatre. The alleged assault happened at 10 p.m. on February 7 at the concert venue at 127 East 23rd Street. Police didn’t specify what led to the incident.
MAN ARRESTED FOR ‘THEFTS’ AT GRAMERCY BUILDINGS
Police arrested 38-year-old Ista Williams for possession of stolen property and criminal trespass at the corner of Park Avenue South and East 25th Street last Thursday at 10:27 a.m. Williams was seen casing the front entrance of a building near the corner and when he left the location, police said that he had taken items from his pockets and put it into a black plastic bag. He then entered the location a second time with the bag in his hand and was inside for several minutes. After he left the location a second time, he proceeded to 10 Gramercy Park South, where he allegedly entered a small section of the building and was seen shuffling items in and out of plastic bags. When he was stopped, he was allegedly in possession of stolen property.
BOOKKEEPER BUSTED FOR $70G PAYROLL ‘THEFT’
Police arrested 36-year-old Evelyn Valdez for grand larceny last Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. inside the 13th Precinct at 230 East 21st Street. Police said that while Valdez was employed as a bookkeeper by the victim’s company, she made unauthorized payroll payments to herself and wire transfers in the amount of $69,998.20.
MAN ARRESTED FOR ‘ASSAULT’ AT WEST 21ST ST. BAR
Thirty-year-old Panagiotis Kontaris was arrested for assault inside Bounce Sporting Club at 55 West 21st Street last Sunday at 8:29 p.m. Two victims told police that Kontaris had demanded that they remove their belongings from his table at the club. But rather than wait for them to do this, they said that Kontaris allegedly punched them both in the face while they were moving their bags. Police did not have any further information about what caused the outburst.
PURSE ‘THIEF’ CAUGHT IN THE ACT AT BAR
That same night, police arrested 22-year-old Angelica Altamura for allegedly stealing another woman’s bag at Bounce. The victim told police that her purse was taken from her table and she was walking around looking for it when she saw Altamura allegedly carrying it around her neck. The victim said that she confronted Altamura to demand her purse back, but still had to grab it from her to get it. Altamura was arrested for petit larceny and possession of stolen property last Sunday at 8:29 p.m.
TEENS BUSTED FOR PHONE ‘THEFT’
Three teenagers were arrested for allegedly breaking into a car and snatching a cell phone. Police said this was in front of 376 Third Avenue between 27th and 28th Streets last Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. Eighteen-year-old Carizma Blue and Dashaun Jackson, in addition to a third teenager whose name is being withheld due to his age, were charged with petit larceny.
MAN ASSAULTED AT CHOP’T
Police arrested 21-year-old Diego Buen for assault at the corner of East 23rd Street and Broadway last Thursday at 8 p.m. The victim told police that Buen followed him and punched him in the face following an argument at a nearby restaurant. The victim had taken a photograph of Buen acting disorderly while inside Chop’t on East 23rd Street and the victim wanted to notify the manager about the behavior. Buen allegedly punched the victim after he approached him about the photograph and an argument ensued.
