MAN BUSTED FOR TRESPASSING IN STUY TOWN APARTMENT
Police arrested 24-year-old Bernadino Romero for trespassing inside 651 East 14th Street last Tuesday at 1 a.m. The victim told police that he went outside with his wife to walk his dog and returned to find Romero allegedly leaving his apartment. Police said that the victim held Romero there for public safety officers.
The District Attorney’s office said that Romero accepted an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal with one day of community service on the day of his arraignment last Tuesday.
A spokesperson for StuyTown Property Services said that this was an isolated incident.
“We are pleased with the quick response by public safety and the NYPD whose strong partnership helps ensure the safety of our residents,” the representative said.
MAN BUSTED FOR SEX ABUSE NEAR UNION SQUARE WENDY’S
Police arrested 39-year-old David Coleman for sexual abuse in front of 1 Union Square West after he allegedly smacked a woman’s buttocks.
It was Friday at around 9 p.m. when the victim said she was standing on the corner and felt someone hit her hard on the buttocks, causing her pain and alarm. She then saw Coleman walk past her with no one else in the immediate area. Multiple witnesses said that they saw him do it before he strolled into Wendy’s at 20 East 14th Street. Police soon positively identified the man at the restaurant, but when they ordered him to put his hands behind his back, he allegedly tensed his body and refused to be handcuffed.
Police noted that the suspect spontaneously said, “Yeah, I bumped her yo.” Coleman was also charged with resisting arrest.
MAN ‘PULLED KNIFE, MADE THREATS’ AT SECOND AND EAST 14TH
Police arrested 49-year-old Angel Ortiz at the corner of Second Avenue and East 14th Street last Tuesday at 10:50 p.m. after allegedly threatening people on the sidewalk. Police said that Ortiz was walking east on East 14th Street while wielding a knife and he allegedly refused orders from police to drop the knife while he was walking towards pedestrians.
Ortiz was charged with resisting arrest, menacing, reckless endangerment, weapons possession, harassment and disorderly conduct. Police said that Ortiz also entered a nearby store and stole property. He was charged with petit larceny and possession of stolen property in connection with that incident.
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR STOLEN BAG AT ROOFTOP BAR IN FLATIRON
Police arrested 31-year-old Maria Narvaez inside the 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar at 230 Fifth Avenue, for allegedly stealing a Louis Vuitton handbag, containing two women’s wallets.
Police said that around 1:08 a.m. on Saturday, the first victim told police that she left her Louis Vuitton pocketbook on the table of the VIP section in the bar and it contained a $600 Louis Vuitton wallet, an iPhone 6, a credit card, a debit card and a Longchamp wallet. She told police that property belonging to her friend was also in her bag, including a Michael Kors wallet, $400 in cash, an iPhone 6 and multiple credit cards. Narvaez was allegedly found inside a stall in bathroom at the bar, going through the pocketbook, and the second victim said that she saw Narvaez counting the cash in one of the wallets.
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR THEFT AT MUSEUM OF SEX
Police arrested 27-year-old Tasha Thomas for grand larceny in front of the Museum of Sex at 233 Fifth Avenue last Tuesday at 8:07 p.m. The victim told police that while she was inside the museum, someone stole her debit card and charged $60 at Chipotle. Police said that Thomas admitted to taking the card from the victim and making the charge.
MAN ARRESTED FOR THREATENING TO ‘SHOOT’ SCHOOL STAFF, STUDENTS
Police arrested 26-year-old Peter Rao for making a terrorist threat and aggravated harassment last Saturday at 1:55 a.m. towards students and staff in the App Academy at 159 West 25th Street. The District Attorney’s office said that multiple students heard Rao say that he was going to come back to the school with a shotgun and shoot the students first and then the staff.
CAB DRIVER BUSTED FOR HIT-AND-RUN
Police arrested 36-year-old Marwane Amane last Tuesday at 8:10 a.m. inside the 13th Precinct for leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury. Police said that Amane hit the victim with his cab, causing pain and cuts to his hand. Amane allegedly drove off before police officers arrived at the scene.
MAN ARRESTED FOR PULLING KNIFE ON WEST 20TH STREET
Police arrested 61-year-old Luis Gonzalez for menacing last Monday at 7:45 p.m. in front of 23 West 20th Street. Gonzalez allegedly argued with the victim and pulled a knife on him, making threats.
WOMAN NABBED FOR ASSAULT ON EAST 27TH
Police arrested 27-year-old Gina Russell for assault in front of 228 East 27th Street last Tuesday at 4:05 a.m. Police said that the victim was having a discussion with Russell that escalated and Russell allegedly began punching her in the face, causing swelling to her eye. Police said that Russell also pushed the victim to the floor and kicked her, causing pain to her ribs, shoulder and neck.
MAN IN UNION SQUARE FOUND WITH COCAINE, KNIFE, STUN GUN
Police arrested 25-year-old Raymond McQuilla at the corner of Union Square West and East 15th Street last Tuesday at 5:06 p.m. after a failed alleged drug deal.
Police said that McQuilla was seen at the corner exchanging a quantity or marijuana with a buyer who wasn’t arrested and when police attempted to handcuff him, he allegedly flailed his arms and refused to place them behind his back. Police said that he fled the location but cops chased him, caught him and found that he was allegedly in possession of marijuana, a bong, cocaine, a knife, a stun gun and a scale.
McQuilla was charged with resisting arrest, an unclassified misdemeanor, possession of drug paraphernalia, weapons possession, possession of a controlled substance, sale of marijuana, possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct.
MAN BUSTED FOR ASSAULT IN UNION SQUARE
Police arrested 32-year-old Carmelo Elliott Jr. for assault at the corner of Union Square West and East 14th Street last Thursday at 1:08 p.m. Police said that Elliott punched the victim in the face, causing an injury to his bottom lip and nose. No further information was available about what caused the dispute.
MAN NABBED FOR THEFT AT SUSHI RESTAURANT
Police arrested 38-year-old Abdiwahid Ibrahim for grand larceny and possession of stolen property last Saturday at 2:23 a.m. inside Amber Kips Bay, a restaurant at 381 Third Avenue. Police said that Ibrahim swiped the victim’s property and police identified him by video surveillance. When he was searched, police said that he was in possession of the stolen property.
ASSAULT ON EAST 14TH
Police arrested 24-year-old Murshed Ahmed for assault last Saturday at 6:35 p.m. in front of Beauty Bar at 231 East 14th Street. Police said that last Saturday at 6:35 p.m. Ahmed hit the victim in the face, causing a cut to his nose.
