CONVICTED MURDERER ARRESTED IN UNION SQUARE SHOOTING
Sixty-year-old Leslie Jiminez was arrested for assault last Sunday at 8:35 p.m. inside the 13th Precinct. According to the New York Daily News, the 55-year-old victim, who helps run a custodial company, had just arrived at an office building at 126 Fifth Avenue near West 18th Street around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday morning to pay her employees when Jiminez approached her in the hallway and allegedly demanded her purse. The victim struggled with Jiminez, who allegedly shot her in the leg before running off with the $2,000 in cash meant for her workers.
Jiminez was also charged with robbery, reckless endangerment, weapons possession and menacing. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
DNAinfo reported that Jiminez has a rap sheet going back decades, with a robbery conviction in 1977 and a conviction for first-degree manslaughter in 1983. He was released in 1997.
MAN BUSTED FOR SEX ABUSE IN UNION SQUARE SUBWAY
Police arrested 23-year-old Charles Cassis for sexual abuse and public lewdness inside the Union Square subway station last Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. Police said that Cassis rubbed his groin area on a woman’s buttocks repeatedly while they were on an uptown 5 train. Cassis also allegedly masturbated behind the victim. Police said that Cassis and the victim don’t know each other.
MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT AT L’EXPRESS
Police arrested 28-year-old David Richardson for allegedly assaulting an employee at L’Express restaurant at 249 Park Avenue South. The victim said last Sunday at 5 a.m. Richardson was being escorted out of the restaurant, which is when he punched the employee in the face.
TEEN BUSTED FOR ‘RECKLESS’ SWORDPLAY IN UNION SQUARE
Nineteen-year-old Aaron Olivieri was arrested for reckless endangerment in front of 27 Union Square West last Friday at 1:55 p.m. Police said that Olivieri was seen inside Union Square Park swinging a sword on the lawn, causing public alarm. Officers saw pedestrians getting up and moving away from the surrounding area in fear and multiple pedestrians approached officers to report that there was a man swinging a sword around.
PAIR ARRESTED AT BELLEVUE FOR ROBBERY
Police arrested 26-year-old Mathew Rivera and 43-year-old Mitchell Hernandez for robbery and assault last Saturday at 5:27 a.m. The victim told police that Rivera and Hernandez tried to sell him a cell phone and when he refused, Hernandez pulled out a knife and threatened him, and Rivera hit the victim with a metal pipe. Police said that the suspects then took the victim’s phone from his hand and fled on foot. According to the District Attorney’s office, the incident occurred at the southeast corner of Eighth Avenue and West 22nd Street around 2:35 a.m.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital and while he was there, he recognized the suspects and notified hospital police. Rivera was also charged with weapons possession.
MAN BUSTED FOR BB GUN AT BARNES & NOBLE
Police arrested 28-year-old Kenyatta Williams for petit larceny, theft and weapons possession in front of Barnes & Noble, 33 East 17th Street last Saturday at 3:54 p.m. Police said that Williams was caught shoplifting at the store and when he was searched, they found that he was in possession of an imitation pistol with a magazine inside the pistol that had a plastic BB inside the chamber.
MAN ARRESTED FOR K2 AND POT
Police arrested 28-year-old Richards Fuqua for an unclassified violation and marijuana possession last Wednesday at 6:55 a.m. in front of 131 West 14th Street. Police said that Fuqua was found in possession of K2 and was also in possession of alleged marijuana.
MAN BUSTED FOR SELLING POT TO COP
Police arrested 32-year-old Edwin Nazario for sale and possession of marijuana at the corner of East 30th Street and First Avenue last Wednesday at 4:06 p.m. Police said that Nazario sold a quantity of alleged marijuana to an undercover cop.
MAN ARRESTED FOR TRESPASSING, POT
Sixty-year-old Jose Andreo was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and criminal trespass inside 344 East 28th Street last Thursday at 9:43 p.m. Police said that he was in possession of a controlled substance and it was determined that he was allegedly trespassing because he isn’t a resident of the building and wasn’t visiting any residents. Police said he was also found with an additional controlled substance.
MAN ARRESTED FOR STOLEN LAPTOP AT KENMORE HALL
Police arrested 61-year-old Anthony Still for petit larceny inside Kenmore Hall at 145 East 23rd Street last Friday after he allegedly swiped a laptop from the building.
‘AGGRESSIVE’ PANHANDLER ARRESTED
Police arrested 31-year-old Frankie Hatton for an unclassified misdemeanor last Friday at 9:31 a.m. in front of 137 East 29th Street. Police said that Hatton was begging for money on a public street in an aggressive manner.
MAN BUSTED FOR POT AFTER TRAFFIC INFRACTION
Fifty-year-old John Scott was arrested for an unclassified traffic infraction and possession of marijuana in front of 385 Third Avenue last Monday at 4:15 p.m. Scott was driving east on East 23rd Street at Sixth Avenue when he allegedly failed to signal before changing lanes. After he was stopped, police said that alleged marijuana was recovered from his pocket.
WOMEN ARRESTED FOR UNION SQUARE FIGHT
Police arrested 22-year-olds Danvea Moore and Brittany Middlebrook for assault at the corner of Union Square West and East 15th Street last Monday at 9:38 p.m. Police said that one of the suspects grabbed the victim by the hair and punched her in the face, and the other hit her in the forehead with a socket wrench, causing a lump and a scratch on her forehead, as well as pain to her jaw. No further information was available about what started the dispute.
