DRIVER CRASHES INTO COP CAR ON FIFTH AVENUE, THEN TRIES UNSUCCESSFULLY TO FLEE
Police arrested 32-year-old Sachin Patel for reckless endangerment last Monday at 6:08 p.m. in front of 162 Fifth Avenue. A police officer was legally parked on the west side of Fifth Avenue near the northwest corner of West 21st Street when Patel allegedly crashed his vehicle into the parked van. Police said that he fled the scene, heading south on Fifth Avenue and turning onto West 20th Street going in the wrong direction. Officers conducted a vehicle stop on Fifth Avenue and pulled him over. Patel was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident and an unclassified traffic infraction.
MAN NABBED FOR HEADBUTTING OFFICER AT BELLEVUE
Police arrested 38-year-old Alexander Arias inside Bellevue Hospital at 462 First Avenue last Tuesday at 7 a.m. Arias was being removed from the hospital after being discharged when he allegedly attempted to headbutt one of the police officers. A struggle ensued and police said that Arias flailed his arms and legs, causing two officers to fall to the ground. Arias injured his mouth in the struggle and allegedly spit blood in both officers’ faces.
MAN PUNCHES OFFICER WHILE TRYING TO ESCAPE FROM BELLEVUE
Police arrested 32-year-old Augustin Fajardo for assault of a peace officer inside Bellevue Hospital last Thursday at 2:14 p.m. Police said that Fajardo attempted to escape from custody while inside the hospital facility and he allegedly fought with an officer, punching him in the chest and causing pain. Police said that Fajardo flailed and made it difficult for officers to place him back into custody. Fajardo was also charged with escape and resisting arrest.
