MAN BUSTED FOR SELLING HEROIN OUTSIDE 30TH STREET SHELTER
Police arrested 46-year-old Vincent Franco for sale of a controlled substance outside the 30th Street Men’s Shelter at 400 East 30th Street last Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Police said that Franco sold a quantity of alleged heroin to an undercover officer for cash.
MAN ALLEGEDLY SOLD XANAX WITH CHILD NEARBY
Police arrested 52-year-old William Torres for sale of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child at the corner of First Avenue and East 24th Street last Wednesday at 7:49 a.m. Police said that Torres sold Xanax to an undercover officer while in custody of an 8-year-old child. Torres was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Francisco Vazquez, 59, and Kevin Sullivan, 32, also allegedly sold Xanax to an undercover officer at the same time nearby in front of 318 East 23rd Street. Vazquez and Sullivan were both charged with sale of a controlled substance and Sullivan was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance.
MAN ARRESTED FOR CAR THEFT NEAR STUYVESANT TOWN
Police arrested 47-year-old Alexander Owens for grand larceny auto at the corner of East 16th Street and Avenue C last Saturday at 3:17 p.m. Police said that Owens stole the victim’s car and attempted to flee on the FDR before he was arrested.
MAN BUSTED FOR MUSHROOMS ACROSS FROM STUY TOWN
Police arrested 23-year-old Shadi Torres for possession of a controlled substance in front of 309 First Avenue last Saturday at 12:04 a.m. Police picked up Torres for an unrelated previous incident and when he was searched, he was allegedly in possession of two bags of psychedelic mushrooms.
‘DRUNK’ MAN BUSTED FOR STOLEN CAR
Police arrested 38-year-old Patrick Omeara after he was allegedly found driving erratically in a stolen vehicle at Sixth Avenue and West 26th Street last Sunday at 4 a.m. Police stopped Omeara because he was spotted driving north on Sixth Avenue and allegedly had the rear lights on the vehicle turned off.
When he was stopped, police said that he had signs of being intoxicated. He allegedly got out of the car and ran down the street with a 16-ounce can of Blackberry Steel beer in his hand, but police caught him and he was arrested. Police said that he had bloodshot, watery eyes, a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, slurred speech and unsteady balance.
Upon further investigation, Omeara was allegedly unable to identify the owner of the vehicle he was driving but the District Attorney’s office confirmed that the car was stolen. It was unclear how Omeara gained access to the vehicle. Police said that the registered owner is employed at Webster Hall and he told police that the car had gone missing from where he parked it at the corner of Fourth Avenue and East 11th Street.
The District Attorney’s office said that a crack pipe was also recovered from Omeara’s jacket and he was allegedly in possession of 13 smaller bags of marijuana. He was charged with grand larceny auto and unauthorized use of vehicle.
MAN BUSTED FOR BAG THEFT AT PING PONG BAR
Police arrested 26-year-old Matthew Davidowicz for grand larceny inside SPiN at 48 East 23rd Street last Sunday at 12:56 a.m. The victim told police that her bag was a few feet away from them while she was playing ping pong with her daughter and a few minutes later, she realized that the bags were missing. She found a security guard and gave him a description of the bags and the items inside, and the guard spotted Davidowicz allegedly carrying the bag on his shoulder while making his way towards the exit. The victim told police that it was her bag and all items were recovered, but Davidowicz allegedly told the guard it belonged to him when they asked if it was his bag. Security said that there was video of the incident available, and Davidowicz reportedly said that he wanted a lawyer.
MAN ARRESTED FOR CRACKING VICTIM’S TOOTH ON WEST 14TH STREET
Police arrested 29-year-old Thomas Kenaema for assault at the corner of Sixth Avenue and West 14th Street last Monday at 6:25 p.m. Police said that Kenaema got into a fight with the victim on the sidewalk and punched the victim in the face multiple times, causing pain, swelling and bleeding. Kenaema allegedly threw the victim to the ground and kicked him in the face, cracking his front tooth. The victim said that he held Kenaema at the scene until police arrived.
MAN NABBED FOR ROBBERY AT SIXTH AVENUE MARSHALL’S
Police arrested 54-year-old Juan Camacho for robbery inside the Marshall’s at 620 Sixth Avenue last Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. Police said that Camacho stole items from the store and pulled a knife on store security when a guard attempted to stop him from leaving. When police stopped him, they found that he was allegedly in possession of the items and when he was searched, he was also allegedly in possession of two knives. Police said that he was also in possession of a bag of marijuana and pliers. He was additionally charged with burglar’s tools, weapons possession, possession of stolen property and possession of marijuana.
MEN ARRESTED FOR PANHANDLING IN TRAFFIC
Police arrested two men for panhandling in traffic last Wednesday. Police said that 54-year-old James Wardlow was aggressively panhandling at East 28th Street and Third Avenue at 8:45 a.m. by approaching cars and knocking on the windows while asking for change. Facundo Barrios, 39, was allegedly begging at Second Avenue and East 25th Street just after 10 a.m., approaching cars on the street and impeding the flow of traffic. Wardlow and Barrios were charged with a New York State misdemeanor.
MEN BUSTED FOR DRUGS IN UNION SQUARE
Police arrested two men for selling drugs in Union Square last Thursday at 8:10 p.m. Police said that 39-year-old Kevin Morales sold a quantity of a controlled substance to undercover officers on several occasions, starting from December 9, 2016. Joel Bernard, 54, also allegedly sold a controlled substance to an undercover officer. The two men were charged with intent to sell, sale of and possession of a controlled substance.
UNDERAGE ‘DRINKER’ ARRESTED AFTER HITTING PARKED CARS
Police arrested 20-year-old Dianny Ruiz for allegedly impaired driving and an unclassified traffic infraction in front of 208 East 28th Street last Sunday at 5:35 a.m. Police said that Ruiz drove while under the influence of alcohol and allegedly caused an accident with two parked cars. Police said that Ruiz didn’t have a driver’s license and was under the legal drinking age.
EXTORTION CHARGE FOR STOLEN PHONE
Nineteen-year-old Dante Daniels was arrested for grand larceny by extortion last Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. inside the 13th Precinct. Police said that Daniels was knowingly in possession of the victim’s stolen cell phone and allegedly offered the phone back to the victim in exchange for $50. Daniels was also charged with possession of stolen property.
