MAN NABBED FOR FAILED MUGGING
Police arrested 51-year-old Kenneth Brwon for attempted robbery after, they said, he tried to snatch a woman’s purse and canvas shopping bags from her shoulder.
According to the district attorney, while at the corner of Park Avenue South and East 23rd Street last Sunday at 1 a.m., Brwon continued to pull on the victim’s bags even when multiple passersby intervened, and even when the victim struggled to get away by getting into a taxi.
When it was clear he wasn’t going to get the woman’s belongings, he allegedly attempted to flee but was arrested soon after.
‘GRINDER’ ARRESTED IN UNION SQUARE
Police arrested 24-year-old Kavon Morgan for sexual abuse at East 14th Street and Union Square East last Thursday at 7:30 a.m. Police said that Morgan used his sweatshirt to hide his erection and proceeded to thrust his hips and rub his groin area against the victim’s buttocks multiple times.
MAN BUSTED FOR ‘COCAINE’ IN GRAMERCY
Thirty-year-old Josh Lewis was arrested for possession of a controlled substance in front of 38 Gramercy Park East last Friday at 7:09 p.m. Police said that Lewis snorted cocaine from his right hand while on the sidewalk, and alleged cocaine was recovered from his pockets when he was searched.
‘DRUNK’ DRIVER ARRESTED AT FIRST AVENUE AND EAST 17TH
Police arrested 28-year-old Edwin Narvas for intoxicated driving and an unclassified traffic infraction at the southwest corner of First Avenue and East 17th Street last Saturday at 3:45 a.m. Police said that Narvas was involved in an accident at the location and when officers approached him, he was allegedly intoxicated.
MAN ARRESTED FOR BRIBING RAPE VICTIM
Police arrested 32-year-old Karan Kejariwal for bribery last Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. inside the 13th Precinct. Police said that Kejariwal offered cash to a rape victim if she dropped the charges and refused to testify against his brother, who has been charged with rape.
According to the District Attorney’s office, Kejariwal sent the victim a text that said he would give her $5,000 if she took her statement back and the message was one of about 40 texts relating to the arrest. The suspect’s brother, 24-year-old Varun Kejariwal, was charged with rape on March 4. DNAinfo reported on Wednesday that the older Kerajiwal was arrested after he turned himself in at the precinct.
UPDATE, 08/12/2019: Court documents show that the charges against Karan Kejariwal were dismissed by the Manhattan DA and sealed on June 15, 2017.
MAN ARRESTED FOR DAMAGE INSIDE WATERSIDE GARAGE
Police arrested 28-year-old Lawlor Sean for criminal mischief inside 25 Waterside Plaza last Sunday at 4:32 a.m. Police said that Sean was seen intentionally pushing through a parking garage gate, snapping it off in the process.
MAN ARRESTED FOR HITTING PEDESTRIAN WITH CAR
Police arrested 24-year-old Amandeep Singh for leaving the scene of an accident last Thursday at 12:10 p.m. inside the 13th precinct. Police said that Singh hit a pedestrian who was crossing the street with his vehicle and allegedly left without reporting the incident. The accident happened on a previous date but no further information was available about when or where the incident occurred.
WOMEN BUSTED FOR ASSAULT ON THIRD AVENUE
Police arrested two women for assault last Saturday at 4:39 a.m. in front of Tonic East at 411 Third Avenue. Police said that 23-year-old Shartrice Thompson and 24-year-old Shartora Thompson got into an argument with the victim and allegedly punched him in the face, causing swelling under his left eye.
WOMEN ARRESTED FOR PROSTITUTION
Police arrested 62-year-old Chana Imm and 33-year-old Chun-Mi Ma for prostitution outside 34 West 28th Street last Wednesday at 5:49 p.m. Police said that Ma agreed to engage in sexual intercourse with an undercover officer in exchange for cash and Imm allegedly offered sexual services in exchange for cash. Imm and Ma were debriefed in regards to sex trafficking with negative results.
TWO ARRESTED IN E. 29TH ST. DRUG DEAL
Police arrested two men involved in a drug deal in front of 54 East 29th Street last Thursday at 5:58 p.m. Police said that 26-year-old Adrian Cevallus bought a small ziplock bag of marijuana from 26-year-old Mohamed Sall, who was allegedly in possession of additional ziplock bags with marijuana. Both were charged with possession of marijuana and Sall was additionally charged with the sale of marijuana.
MAN BUSTED FOR POT AFTER PEEING OUTSIDE BELLEVUE HOSPITAL
Police arrested 35-year-old Rafael Fonduer for possession of marijuana in front of Bellevue Hospital last Saturday at 5:15 a.m. Police said that Fonduer was stopped for public urination and when he was searched, he was allegedly in possession of marijuana.
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR ‘DRUNK’ DRIVING IN UNION SQUARE
Police arrested 33-year-old Lauren Duane for alleged intoxicated driving at the corner of Union Square East and East 14th Street last Sunday at 11:38 p.m.
Police said that Duane was stopped because she didn’t have a front plate on her car and when officers approached the vehicle, she allegedly had bloodshot, watery eyes and a moderate odor of alcohol on her breath. She reportedly told police that she was coming from dinner with her friends and had a drink of sake and later she allegedly said that she had a glass of wine and a box of sake.
