New York City employee and Democratic activist Jacob Schwartz, 29, was arrested on child pornography charges inside the 13th Precinct last Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

According to the district attorney’s office, the Kips Bay resident has been under investigation since last November.

Police said that Schwartz gave officers his signed consent to search his laptop on March 29 inside his Third Avenue apartment.

When police searched the computer, they found that he had more than 3,000 images and 89 videos of nude girls as young as six months through age 16 engaging in “sexual conduct” with men, including sexual intercourse and oral sex.

CBS New York reported last Friday that Schwartz had been working in the Department of Design and Construction for the last two years and was the president of the Manhattan Young Democrats.

The blog for Manhattan Young Democrats said in a post last Friday that the group was “shocked” about the reports on Schwartz, without mentioning him by name, and noted that he is no longer a member of the board. An interim president has been put in place.

Schwartz’s father, labor lawyer and prominent Democrat Arthur Schwartz, told the New York Post that his son was already in therapy but he would not comment further to Town & Village on the case.

Schwartz turned himself in to police last Thursday and was charged with promoting sexual performance by a child and promoting sexual performance by a child younger than 16.

An attorney for Schwartz did not return a request for comment.

  1. Interesting that evidence was gathered in March and that the powers that be wait for the the day before the three-day Memorial Day Weekend to arraign the guy.

His dad says, “He’s already getting couseling for this” AND he’s released on a $7,500 bond??!?!?

    Politicized “justice” much?

    • That’s a traditional law firm practice, to finagle a filing of any likely-to-controversial court procedure to take place just before a public holiday. They hope that no one will notice.

  2. Lock him up and throw away the key. Perverts come in all different types, some are DeBlasio staffers and some are cardinals (maybe even a few popes). Just lock them up and throw away the key. I don’t think they can be “cured.” Look at Anthony Weiner, for instance. Just lock ’em up and throw away the key. Don’t mistreat them because they can’t help themselves, but lock ’em up and throw away the key.
