MAN NABBED FOR ASSAULTING OFFICER IN UNION SQUARE
Police arrested 25-year-old Gary Williams for assault at the corner of Union Square West and East 14th Street last Friday at 2:30 p.m.
Officers were conducting an investigation regarding a possible assault when Williams allegedly came up from behind and started arguing with police. During the argument, Williams allegedly punched the officer in the face, causing bruising and swelling and police said he fled the scene. The officer began chasing Williams but reportedly fell and sprained his knee in the chase, and other officers arrested Williams shortly afterwards.
MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT ON FIRST AVENUE
Police arrested 25-year-old Vianney Monegro for assault at the corner of First Avenue and East 15th Street last Saturday at 5:37 a.m. Monegro got into an argument with the victim and caused cuts and bleeding to the victim’s head allegedly by punching and scratching him. Police said that Monegro and the victim were coworkers and got into an argument in a bar near the intersection.
YELLING MAN TASED AT FIFTH AND WEST 14TH
Police arrested 32-year-old James Daniel for disorderly conduct at the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 14th Street last Thursday at 6:18 p.m. Police said that Daniel was yelling and screaming obscenities in the lobby of a building at the intersection, yelling at officers and causing public alarm.
Other officers attempted to place him under arrest and he allegedly extended his arms to prevent being handcuffed. Police reportedly had to deploy a CED to arrest him.
MAN ARRESTED WITH STOLEN PHONE AFTER COP RECOGNIZED HIM FROM ‘WANTED’ POSTER
Police arrested 59-year-old Anthony Johnson for criminal trespass at the corner of Broadway and West 28th Street last Wednesday at 6:49 p.m. Police said that Johnson was casing a commercial building in a burglary-prone location and police also recognized him from an active “wanted” poster.
Police said that he went inside the building and came out 10 minutes later. He was allegedly in possession of a stolen Samsung cell phone when he was arrested and the owner of the phone told police that the device was stolen recently while she was on a break at work, nearby where Johnson was arrested.
WOMAN BUSTED FOR SWIPING CASH FROM TIP JAR AT FLATIRON BAR
Police arrested 26-year-old Margaret Olson for allegedly swiping tips from 230 Fifth Avenue, a rooftop bar and lounge last Friday at 11:10 p.m. The manager of the establishment told police that Olson reached over the bar and removed cash from the tip jar without permission. Olson allegedly put the cash into the waistband of her pants and when the manager confronted Olson about the alleged theft, she refused to return the cash. While the manager called 911, Olson allegedly went inside the bathroom and attempted to hide the cash inside the garbage can.
MAN ARRESTED FOR GUN, PILLS AND CASH
A man who attempted to skip paying his subway fare ended up getting arrested on a slew of unrelated charges for possession of a gun as well as controlled substances along with theft of service.
On Wednesday, July 26 at 6 p.m., two officers assigned to the Transit Manhattan Task Force were working in plainclothes inside the 23rd Street and 8th Avenue C and E subway station, when they saw Tyleek McGee, 28, enter the station through an exit gate.
McGee then headed to the southbound platform, where the officers stopped him. While conducting a search, officers discovered a large amount of pills and cash on him. They then transported McGee, of Miller Avenue in Brooklyn, to Transit District 2 for processing, and it was while officers conducted an additional search that they discovered a loaded small caliber gun (a .380 caliber Ruger) inside the sole of his left sneaker.
MAN NABBED FOR DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Police arrested 33-year-old Aaron Thomas for assault in front of 401 Park Avenue South last Saturday at 2:48 a.m. Police said that Thomas was intoxicated and was being disorderly inside the store where he works. A security guard at the location told Thomas that he either had to buy something or leave when Thomas allegedly hit the guard in the lip with his elbow, causing bleeding.
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR ‘DINE-AND-DITCH’
Police arrested 53-year-old Donna Barrett for theft of services inside Turkish Kitchen at 386 Third Avenue last Sunday at 4:03 p.m. Police said that Barrett went inside the restaurant and ordered food and drink while knowingly did not have the funds available to pay. She was offered the opportunity to pay but allegedly admitted that she had no cash or credit cards and police said that she would not contact anyone to pay for her.
MAN BUSTED FOR TRESPASSING AT FIRST AVE. L STATION
Police arrested 29-year-old Lance Hester-Bey for theft of services and criminal trespass inside the First Avenue L station last Thursday at 11:35 p.m. Police said that Hester-Bey walked through the emergency exit gate to avoid paying the fare and remained inside the station unlawfully. Police said that he was arrested instead of being issued a summons or a DAT because he has an active warrant.
