CARETAKER ACCUSED OF STEALING FROM SENIOR ON DAY OF HER DEATH
Police arrested 27-year-old Sanaya Mohammed last Thursday after she allegedly try to deposit a check made out to herself from her deceased boss. According to the District Attorney’s office, Mohammed was working as a caretaker for the 73-year-old victim, who lived on West 15th Street in Union Square. Mohammed allegedly deposited a $2,000 check addressed to herself at a Bronx Chase Bank on the same day that the victim passed away.
MAN ARRESTED FOR PURSE-SNATCHING AT EAST 14TH AND THIRD AVENUE
Police arrested 32-year-old Bernard Rivera after he allegedly snatched a woman’s purse at the corner of Third Avenue and East 14th Street last Saturday right after midnight. Rivera was charged with grand larceny possession of stolen property.
MAN ARRESTED FOR MUGGING ON PARK AVENUE SOUTH
Nineteen-year-old Berris McGann was arrested after allegedly mugging a woman at the corner of East 21st Street and Park Avenue South last Wednesday.
Police said that the victim was waiting to cross the street when McGann allegedly forcibly grabbed the victim’s shopping bag, shoving her, and fled north on Park Avenue South. Police searched the area and McGann was arrested shortly after for robbery and possession of stolen property.
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT IN UNION SQUARE
Police arrested 24-year-old Keyadah Higgins after she allegedly punched another woman in the face in front of 41 Union Square West last Tuesday. She was arrested shortly after midnight for assault and weapons possession after allegedly being found to have a metal knuckle knife. The victim was treated at Beth Israel for a cut and bruising to her cheek, lip and forehead.
TEEN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT WITH TEA AT GOOD SHEPHERD
Police arrested a 16-year-old girl for assault inside Good Shepherd Services, a girls’ residence at 337 East 17th Street last Sunday. Police said that Dubov and the victim got into an argument in the wee hours and Dubov allegedly threw hot tea at the victim, hitting her in the face and chest and causing redness and pain. The victim was treated at Beth Israel.
MEN ARRESTED FOR DRUG DEAL AT WEST 27TH AND FIFTH
Police arrested two men involved in a drug deal near West 27th Street and Fifth Avenue last Wednesday at 1:36 p.m. Police said that 37-year-old Joshua Santiago bought alleged cocaine from 43-year-old Ahmed Kabia. Santiago, who was charged with possession of a controlled substance, was arrested in front of 11 West 27th Street and Kabia, who was charged with intent to sell a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, was busted in front of 234 Fifth Avenue. Police said that Kabia was in possession of additional cocaine, as well as marijuana and Clonazepam pills.
SERIAL DRUGSTORE SHOPLIFTER ARRESTED
Police arrested 45-year-old Juan Nieves for petit larceny and possession of stolen property inside the CVS Pharmacy at 636 Sixth Avenue last Tuesday at 5:07 a.m. Police said that Nieves took items from the store and attempted to leave without paying. After he was arrested, he was additionally charged with shoplifting from the Stuyvesant Town Walgreens at 298 First Avenue on at least three previous occasions, as well as from the Duane Reade at 465 Second Avenue three different times, the Walgreens at 300 East 23rd Street and the Duane Reade at 155 East 34th Street.
Nieves allegedly entered the Second Avenue store and attempted to take items without paying on August 19. He reportedly shoplifted at the Stuy Town Walgreens on September 4 and the East 23rd Street Walgreens and Second Avenue Duane Reade on September 6. He allegedly stole Crest products and Heineken from the East 34th Street location.
Police said that a “no trespass” notice was issued to Nieves on July 20 after he was caught shoplifting at the Second Avenue location on July 19, which banned him from entering any Duane Reade location.
Nieves was also charged with burglary and criminal trespass.
MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT
Police arrested 33-year-old Giovanni Pacheco for assault in front of 158 East 23rd Street last Thursday at 1:18 a.m. Police said that Pacheco punched the victim in the face, causing swelling and a bloody lip. No further information was available about what prompted the attack.
MAN BUSTED FOR BURGLAR’S TOOLS AFTER JUMPING TURNSTILE
Police arrested 46-year-old Carlos Silva for burglar’s tools and theft of services at the corner of Park Avenue South and East 22nd Street last Friday at 6:09 p.m. Police said that Silva was casing vehicles from East 18th Street and Third Avenue to East 20th Street and Park Avenue South. Silva allegedly entered the subway by jumping over a turnstile and when he was arrested, he was allegedly in possession of a screwdriver, a utility tool and an Allen key.
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR SKIPPING PEDICAB FARE
Police arrested 47-year-old Christine Rehill for theft of services in front of 36 West 18th Street last Friday at 1:30 a.m. Police said that a pedicab driver picked Rehill up from Penn Station and brought her to Pergola Bar at 36 West 18th Street. Police said that Rehill left the pedicab without paying and went inside the bar.
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT WITH U-LOCK
Police arrested 24-year-old Shevon Miller for assault at the corner of East 14th Street and Union Square East last Saturday at 6:15 p.m. Police said that Miller hit the victim in the back of the head with a U-lock after she and the victim got into an argument about bicycles. The victim was treated at Bellevue Hospital and sustained cuts to the back of her head and lip.
