Police Watch: Senior charged with sex abuse, Man punches store employee

SENIOR CHARGED WITH SEX ABUSE OUTSIDE GRAMERCY PARK
Police arrested 62-year-old Dean Barlow for sexual abuse at the corner of Gramercy Park East and East 20th Street last Thursday at 6:58 a.m. Barlow allegedly admitted to police that he just “lost it” and grabbed and slapped a woman’s buttocks from behind while she walked. The woman confirmed that it was Barlow who’d grabbed her.

CONFRONTED ABOUT SHOPLIFTING, MAN PUNCHES STORE EMPLOYEE
Police arrested 29-year-old Aleksandr Mashin for robbery and possession of stolen property at the corner of Park Avenue South and East 23rd Street last Monday at 5:58 p.m. An employee at a nearby store told police that he was walking down the aisle when he noticed that a shelf of coffee was empty. He then notiticed that Mashin was allegedly rushing down the aisle while looking back at him. When the employee confronted him about the coffee, Mashin allegedly dragged him on the floor and during the struggle, punched him in the head and fled the store. He reportedly ran north on Park Avenue South until an officer stopped him at the southwest corner at East 23rd Street. No further information was available about which store was involved in the incident.

ACTRESS ARRESTED FOR ‘SHOVING’ WOMAN ON TRAIN PLATFORM
Police arrested 35-year-old Keira Keeley for reportedly trying to shove a woman toward a 4 train as it was pulling into Union Square last Saturday around 12:15 a.m. According to the Daily News, Keeley pushed the 57-year-old woman on the platform, although the victim was able to grab a pillar to prevent herself from falling. A witness pointed Keeley out when police rushed over after hearing screams. Keeley denied pushing the victim but said that she had four glasses of wine while out with her boyfriend and felt “buzzed.”
Keeley was charged with attempted assault.

SUDANESE DIPLOMAT ARRESTED, THEN RELEASED OVER GROPING ACCUSATION
Gothamist reported that a man was arrested for allegedly groping a woman in an East Village bar over the weekend but then released after showing the police his U.N. credentials. According to the NYPD, 36-year-old Sudanese diplomat Hassan Salih groped a woman’s breasts and buttocks while she was dancing inside Bar None at 98 Third Avenue around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday. The woman complained to a bouncer and when police arrived, Salih allegedly attempted to flee, but he was chased down shortly after. He was brought to a nearby precinct but was released when the cops verified his U.N. credentials because diplomats are legally immune criminal prosecution and lawsuits, a policy that is intended to protect diplomats from unfair charges in hostile countries.

WOMAN ARRESTED FOR WATCHING ‘GAME OF THRONES’ WHILE DRIVING
Sixty-year-old Cara Mulhan was arrested for an unclassified traffic misdemeanor at the corner of East 20th Street and Avenue C last Sunday at 1:01 a.m. Police said that Mulhan was driving while watching “Game of Thrones” on a portable mobile device that was on her lap. When she was stopped, police found that she was allegedly driving with a suspended license.

MAN ARRESTED FOR USING DECEASED UNCLE’S ATM CARD
Police arrested 27-year-old Rashad Witt for grand larceny last Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. inside the 13th precinct. Police said that Witt used his deceased uncle’s ATM card to withdraw money.

MAN BUSTED FOR VERIZON STORE THEFTS IN UNION SQUARE
Police arrested 36-year-old Ricardo Rogers for petit larceny at the corner of Union Square West and East 16th Street last Friday at 10:51 a.m. Police said that Rogers was casing vans around Union Square before entering the Verizon store with an empty bag. He allegedly left the store shortly after with multiple pairs of headphones, a Bluetooth camera and a Bluetooth speaker. Police said that Rogers was stopped in the subway because he jumped the turnstile and when he was searched, he was in possession of the allegedly stolen items from Verizon.

MEN ARRESTED FOR SKIPPING CAB FARE
Police arrested two people who failed to pay cab fare in two separate incidents.
Eric Sumanuru, 23, was arrested at the corner of East 20th Street and First Avenue last Thursday at 5:14 a.m. Sumanuru allegedly refused to pay cab fare, even after officers arrived at the scene. The driver told police that he picked up Sumanuru at West 27th Street and 10th Avenue.
Police arrested 33-year-old Marcus Wright in front of 7 East 14th Street last Thursday at 10:34 a.m. Police said that Wright took a taxi ride and allegedly refused to pay the fare.
Both were charged with theft of services.

MAN ARRESTED FOR PUNCHING GUARD AT NYU MEDICAL SCHOOL
Police arrested 45-year-old William Rivera for assault in front of the NYU Medical School at 334 East 26th Street last Thursday at 6:02 p.m. A security guard at the building told police that he saw Rivera going through the bicycles locked to the rack in front of the building and when he confronted Rivera, attempting to detain him, Rivera allegedly punched the guard in the face.

TEEN ARRESTED FOR THROWING BRICK AT POLICE VAN NEAR PRECINCT
Police arrested a teenager for criminal mischief in front of 208 East 21st Street last Sunday at 11:09 a.m. Police said that the teen took a brick and threw it at a marked police van, damaging the front windshield. Police saw the teen throw the brick through surveillance video and the teen was also described through 911. The teen had previously been inside the precinct with a friend but police had no further information about why he was there.

MAN CAUGHT IN CAR BY ITS OWNER
Police arrested 26-year-old Juan Carlos Zorrilla for petit larceny in front of 101 East 15th Street last Thursday at 12:38 p.m. The victim told police that he got in his car and allegedly found Zorrilla looking through his center console without permission to be there. The victim told police that he had left the car unlocked. No items were stolen from the vehicle.

DRUG DEAL ON EAST 27TH AND MOUNT CARMEL
Police arrested two men involved in a drug deal at the corner of East 27th Street and Mount Carmel Place last Friday at 10:46 a.m. Police said that 61-year-old Porfirio Colon sold an alleged controlled substance to 57-year-old Jose Cruz in exchange for cash. Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance and Colon was additionally charged with sale of a controlled substance.

MAN BUSTED FOR ASSAULT ON FIRST AVENUE
Police arrested 45-year-old Kevin Jackowski for assault at the corner of First Avenue and East 15th Street last Friday at 4:26 p.m. The victim told police that Jackowski punched him in the face multiple times, causing cuts on his nose and substantial pain.

TEENS BUSTED FOR DELI ROBBERY
Police arrested three teenagers for robbing a Second Avenue deli at the end of September.
Police said that the three teens went inside the 2nd Avenue Grocery & Smoke Shop at 455 Second Avenue near East 26th Street at 4:14 p.m. on Monday, September 25. They reportedly pushed a store employee to the floor while forcibly removing cash from the register, then fled the location.
Two of the teenagers were caught in an uptown 6 train at the 33rd Street shortly after the incident and one of the teens was arrested inside the ACS Facility at 492 First Avenue at a later date.

TEENS ARRESTED FOR SEX IN ASSER LEVY PARK
Police arrested two people for have sex inside a public park on Wednesday, September 27 at 10:41 p.m. A 19-year-old and a minor were allegedly having sex inside Asser Levy Park.

MAN BUSTED FOR DRUGS, KNIFE ON EAST 23RD
Police arrested 65-year-old Oscar Turnage for possession of drug paraphernalia in front of 141 East 23rd Street last Wednesday at 6:55 a.m. Police said that Turnage was in possession of a quantity of a controlled substance, a gravity knife and drug packaging and was also charged with weapons possession and possession of a controlled substance.
