Police Watch: Leg found in East River, Men wanted for attempted robbery

HUMAN LEG FOUND IN EAST RIVER
Police responded to 911 call for a human leg found floating in the vicinity of the FDR and East Sixth Street on Thursday, November 9 at 11:43 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the appendage floating against the rocks at the location. ESU responded and removed the body part from the waters. The New York City Medical Examiner will conduct further analysis and the investigation is ongoing.

TWO MEN WANTED FOR ATTEMPTED ROBBERY OF SENIOR
Cops are on the lookout for two men who shoved a 76-year-old man up against a wall and tried to rob him on Monday at around 10:30 p.m.
Police said the incident occurred inside a residential building near West 21st Street and Seventh Avenue.
It wasn’t clear how the men got inside the building, but when they confronted the victim, he fought back so they threw him down to the ground. The assailants then fled the building, empty-handed, westbound on West 21st Street.
The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The first suspect is a black man, 20 to 30 years old, 5’8” to 5’10”, with a beard and was last seen wearing a dark-colored knit cap, a black hooded sweater and light colored pants. The second suspect is a black man, 20 to 30 years old, 5’8” to 5’10” and was last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded coat, black pants and dark colored shoes.

MAN WANTED FOR PHONE-SNATCHING
The NYPD is trying to find a man who snatched a woman’s cell phone inside the Union Square station earlier this month.
A 37-year-old woman reported that she was approached by an unidentified male who snatched her phone from her hand while she was on the L platform on Thursday, November 2 at 9:50 a.m. He then fled the station.
The suspect is described as a black man in his forties, last seen wearing all black clothing.

SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR KATE SPADE BURGLARY
Police arrested 52-year-old Jessie Brandon for alleged burglary last Wednesday at 1:35 a.m. inside the 13th Precinct. Police said that Brandon broke into the Kate Spade at 135 Fifth Avenue on Sunday, October 15 at 2:20 a.m., triggering the store alarm. When officers responded, they saw that the front display from the designer label’s boutique was missing.

MAN CHARGED WITH PUNCHING COP IN KIPS BAY
Police arrested 24-year-old Robert McCann for allegedly assaulting a peace officer at the corner of Third Avenue and East 27th Street last Friday at 1:15 a.m. Police said that officers told McCann to leave the location multiple times and he did not comply, and he then allegedly punched an officer in the chest. The officer took McCann to the ground but once on the ground, McCann allegedly would not allow police to cuff him. McCann was also charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment.

MAN CHARGED WITH PUNCHING WOMAN ON STREET
Police arrested 18-year-old Joel Rodriguez after he allegedly punched a woman in the stomach at the corner of East 27th Street and Second Avenue. The victim told police that she was walking south on Second Avenue last Sunday at 3 p.m. when Rodriguez allegedly assaulted her, causing substantial pain.

MAN NABBED FOR BAG SNATCH AT MELT SHOP
Police arrested 48-year-old Martin Lane last Thursday after he allegedly stole a purse from a woman who works at the Melt Shop at 55 West 26th Street.
Lane allegedly took the purse, containing credit cards and other personal property from the back room of the business, which Lane did not have permission to be in. He was arrested for burglary and possession of stolen property on Thursday at the 13th Precinct although the incident allegedly occurred on March 2.

MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT DURING PARKING DISPUTE
Police arrested 62-year-old Carlos Diaz for assault and menacing last Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. inside the 13th Precinct. Police said that Diaz and the victim got into an argument over parking in front of 111 East 18th Street on Tuesday, October 17 at 1:30 p.m. The victim, a 49-year-old man, was parking at the location when Diaz parked behind him. It was unclear what specifically started the dispute, but police said that Diaz punched the victim and threw him to the ground.

CRACK SALE BUSTS
Police arrested two men allegedly involved in a crack deal at the corner of Second Avenue and East 28th Street last Wednesday at 8:29 a.m. Police said that 21-year-old Daniel Del Moral was seen exchanging a small bag of crack for cash with 45-year-old Martin Negron. When he was searched, Del Moral was allegedly in possession of additional bags of crack and was charged with intent to sell a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. Negron was charged with possession of a controlled substance.
In additional separate incidents, police arrested two men for allegedly dealing crack to undercover officers last Wednesday. Julius Emerson, 56, was apprehended in front of 133 West 25th Street at 3:40 p.m. and 60-year-old John McCargo was arrested at 4:12 p.m. in front of 755 Sixth Avenue. Both men were charged with sale of a controlled substance.

SUSPECT BUSTED FOR BOXCUTTER MENACING
Police arrested 35-year-old Jerome Dickens for alleged menacing last Thursday at 9 a.m. inside the 13th Precinct. Police said that Dickens and the victim are co-workers and got into an argument. Dickens allegedly threatened the victim with a boxcutter and said, “I will kill you.” The argument took place on the sidewalk in front of 1 Irving Place on the afternoon of November 3. but it was unclear if the two men worked nearby. Dickens was arrested when he turned himself in to the 13th Precinct.

DRIVER ARRESTED AT GRAMERCY PARK AFTER HITTING ANOTHER CAR
Police arrested 32-year-old Andrew Hassen for alleged intoxicated driving last Thursday at 4:19 a.m. at the corner of Gramercy Park West and East 20th Street. Police said that Hassen was driving east on East 20th Street between Park Avenue South and Irving Place when he allegedly rear-ended another vehicle, causing damage to the rental car that he was driving. Police said that the four other people in the car with Hassen confirmed that he was the driver.

CAB DRIVER CHARGED WITH LEAVING SCENE OF ACCIDENT
Police arrested 43-year-old cab driver Munsi Hossain for allegedly leaving the scene of an accident that caused a personal injury last Thursday at 4:25 p.m. Police said that Hossain left the scene of an accident in front of 18 East 23rd Street on Tuesday, September 19 that had caused a back injury to the victim, a 27-year-old man.

MAN ARRESTED FOR JUMPING ONTO CAR
Police arrested 22-year-old Jonathan Marchand for alleged criminal mischief in front of 10 Union Square East last Thursday at 8:53 p.m. The victim told police that while he was stopped at a traffic light in front of the location, Marchand was standing nearby on the sidewalk and allegedly proceeded to jump on top of the victim’s vehicle, causing damage to the hood.
