MAN CHARGED WITH VIOLENTLY MUGGING ELDERLY WOMAN
Police arrested 59-year-old Leroy Wright last Thursday for allegedly punching and robbing an elderly woman in October.
Police said that Wright followed an 81-year-old woman into her building near West 13th Street and Seventh Avenue on October 20 around 6:50 p.m. As she was opening the vestibule door, Wright allegedly punched her in the head several times, grabbed her handbag and fled. Police said that the victim suffered bumps and bruises but refused medical attention. When he was arrested, he was also charged in connection with an incident that took place inside 86 Horatio Street on the evening of August 2. Wright was charged with robbery and assault.
TEENS ACCUSED OF ROBBERY ON THIRD AVENUE
Nineteen-year-old Darius Batts and another teenager were arrested for allegedly punching and robbing a victim in front of 325 Third Avenue, near East 25th Street.
Police said last Thursday at 9:30 p.m. Batts, the other teenager and another suspect who wasn’t arrested wore masks and allegedly punched the victim in the head before stealing his wallet. The other teenager who was arrested is a student at Manhattan High School at 317 West 57th Street.
MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED ROBBERY AT EVELYN HOTEL
Police arrested 30-year-old Eric Moyler for an alleged robbery last Saturday at 11:30 p.m. inside the 13th precinct. Police said that on November 23 at 9:45 p.m. inside a hotel room in the Evelyn Hotel at 7 East 27th Street, Moyler and someone else who wasn’t arrested punched him and threw a glass at his face, causing a cut. Moyler and the other suspect allegedly went through the victim’s pockets and removed his wallet.
SAFE STOLEN FROM WEST 27TH
Police arrested 54-year-old Michael Everett for alleged burglary and possession of stolen property last Monday at 1:10 p.m. Police said that Everett could be seen on video walking out of the Maggie Flanigan Studio at 153 West 27th Street with the victim’s safe sometime between November 22 and 26. Police said that the safe contained a significant amount of cash but did not specify exactly how much.
MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT, BURGLARIES
Police arrested 25-year-old Muhammed Diane for burglary and assault last Monday at 3 p.m. inside the 13th Precinct. Diane was charged in connection with multiple unconnected incidents, including three alleged burglaries and an alleged assault.
Police said that the assault occurred on August 17, 2016 around 9 p.m. at the corner of Park Avenue South and East 23rd Street when Diane allegedly hit the victim on the side of the face with a shiny object, causing a fractured eye socket and later requiring surgery.
Diane allegedly broke into 95 Lexington Avenue on October 19, November 28 and December 4. Police said that in each instance, he stole mail that contained credit cards and later used them without permission. The cards included Citibank credit cards, American Express gift cards and a Chase Sapphire card.
MAN ACCUSED OF SEX ABUSE AT 230 FIFTH
Police arrested 25-year-old Jesus Estrada for alleged sexual abuse inside the bar at 230 Fifth Avenue last Saturday at 12:53 a.m. The victim told police that Estrada grabbed his genitals without permission while they were in the bathroom at the location.
MAN CHARGED WITH ‘INTOXICATED’ DRIVING ON EAST 20TH STREET
Police arrested a 32-year-old man for alleged intoxicated driving and an unclassified misdemeanor in front of 5 East 20th Street last Friday at 1:21 a.m. Police said that Raheem Mazyck was passed out behind the wheel of a running vehicle that had been involved in an accident. Witnesses and the driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision reportedly pointed out Mazyck and confirmed that he was involved in the crash. Police said that when officers approached his car, he had an odor of alcohol on him and allegedly told police that he had more than one drink at a private party that he had just come from. The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital because he had sustained an injury to his right index finger in a previous fight with a man who wasn’t at the scene. Police said that Mazyck had a previous DWI arrest and other violations.
MAN STARTS FIGHT OVER DEBIT CARD MINIMUM AT DELI
Police arrested 29-year-old Jeffrey Marmolejos for allegedly assaulting an employee inside Empire Gourmet Deli at 432 Second Avenue last Saturday at 10:36 p.m. The victim told police that he was working behind the register at the store when Marmolejos came in and tried to make a purchase with a debit card. The victim told him that the store has a minimum for debit cards that he hadn’t met, after which Marmolejos allegedly began throwing items around the store. The victim said that when he confronted him and asked him to stop, Marmolejos allegedly punched him in the mouth, causing swelling and pain.
SERIAL TJ MAXX ‘SHOPLIFTER’ BUSTED
Police arrested 61-year-old Roy Walker for alleged petit larceny inside the TJ Maxx at 620 Sixth Avenue last Thursday at 9:47 a.m. Police said that Walker hid merchandise from the store and allegedly attempted to leave without paying for it. When he was approached by police and told to put his hands behind his back, he allegedly began to struggle and ignored commands from the officers. When he was searched, police found that he was allegedly in possession of a pipe with alleged crack residue. Walker was also charged with resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.
After Walker was arrested, police discovered that he was allegedly responsible for a number of shoplifting incidents in the same TJ Maxx location on December 9, 10, 12 and 13.
MAN BUSTED FOR ‘DRUGS’ AT STRAUS HOUSES
Police arrested 45-year-old Martin Negron inside 224 East 28th Street last Tuesday at 10:08 a.m. Police said that Negron was on the NYCHA roof landing without permission to be there with multiple decks of alleged heroin in plain view. Police said that he was also in possession of a hypodermic needle, a crack pipe with alleged residue and additional ziplock bags of a controlled substance.
MAN ACCUSED OF BREAKING REGISTER, STEALING AT DUANE READE
Police arrested a 25-year-old man inside the Duane Reade at 125 Third Avenue between East 14th and 15th Streets last Monday at 4:29 p.m. Police said that Carlos Pizarro jumped behind the cash register area and broke the machine, causing damage. He also allegedly took merchandise from a shelf without paying for it. He was charged with criminal mischief and petit larceny
TWO BUSTED FOR ALLEGED DRUG DEAL AT GRAMERCY THEATRE
Police arrested two men for the alleged sale of and possession of a controlled substance inside the Gramercy Theatre at 127 East 23rd Street last Tuesday at 4:11 p.m. Police said that 33-year-old Adel Shouib and 22-year-old Omar Hussain sold liquid THC (concentrated cannabis) to an undercover officer inside the venue.
