Police Watch: Man arrested for firing gun, Broomstick assault at W. 28th

SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR FIRING GUN IN FRONT OF STRAUS HOUSES
Police arrested 38-year-old Jamah Joseph for assault, weapons possession and reckless endangerment last Monday at 10 p.m. inside the 13th precinct. Police said that Joseph fired multiple shots at a group of people who were standing in front of 224 East 28th Street on January 18 at 10:25 p.m. with intent to cause serious injuries.

MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT WITH BROOMSTICK AT W. 28TH ST. STATION
Police arrested 22-year-old Adan Alverez for assault in front of 145 West 28th Street last Saturday at 7:18 a.m. Alverez and the victim got into an argument, during which Alverez allegedly pulled out a knife in a menacing way. The victim told police that he then chased Alverez to West 28th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues when Alverez allegedly picked up a broomstick and hit the victim on the left side of his head, causing bruising.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital and told police that Alverez threw the knife, which he described as a silver blade approximately three inches in length with a white handle, into the tracks of the 28th Street station. Police searched the area but the knife was not recovered. Alverez was also charged with weapons possession, menacing and possession of marijuana. Police said that the two men did not know each other and did not have further information about what started the argument.

MAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING WOMAN AT NYU COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY
Police arrested a 54-year-old man for an alleged assault inside the NYU College of Dentistry at 345 East 24th Street last Tuesday at 11:04 a.m. Police said that Edmond Sherman punched an unknown woman in her arm, causing swelling to her upper right shoulder blade. The victim told police that Sherman was acting irrationally and also said derogatory things to her. After Sherman sat back down, the victim asked a receptionist at the practice to call 911.

FORMER EMPLOYEE CHARGED WITH OFFICE BURGLARY
Police arrested 25-year-old Elijah Dixon for an alleged burglary last Monday at 11 a.m. Police said that Dixon was previously an employee of a company at 230 Park Avenue South and when the office was closed, he went into the office and allegedly took a company cell phone and credit card without permission.

SUSPECT BUSTED FOR 2017 BURGLARY, THEFT IN FLATIRON
Police arrested 22-year-old Yacine Falih last Wednesday for two alleged crimes in 2017.
Police said that Falih entered an office at 10 West 18th Street in the overnight hours of December 20, 2017 and stole camera equipment before fleeing the scene. Police also said that Falih swiped someone’s backpack from a physical therapy office at 109 West 27th Street on November 1, 2017. When he was searched, police said that he was in possession of stolen property. He was charged with burglary, grand larceny and possession of stolen property.

MEN NABBED FOR DRUG DEAL ON WEST 27TH
Police arrested two men for an alleged drug deal on West 27th Street between Broadway and Sixth Avenue last Wednesday at 6:04 p.m. Forty-year-old Justin Obiang was allegedly exchanging small objects for cash in front of 39 West 27th Street with 35-year-old Adrian Rexhepi, who police said was in possession of alleged marijuana and a straw with residue of alleged heroin.
Obiang and Rexhepi were both allegedly in possession of marijuana. The two suspects were charged with possession of marijuana and Rexhepi was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Obiang was also charged with the sale of marijuana. Rexhepi was arrested farther down the block in front of 49 West 27th Street after reportedly attempting to flee.

MEN ARRESTED FOR DRUGS ON SECOND AVENUE
Police arrested 43-year-old Arbu Jordan, 44-year-old Jamie Rozzell and 43-year-old Zavien Keller for an alleged drug deal near 465 Second Avenue last Thursday at 10:32 a.m. Police said that the three men sold alleged crack cocaine to undercover officers in exchange for cash. Police said that Jordan, who was out on parole, was in possession of additional alleged crack cocaine. Rozzell and Keller were allegedly in possession of a pipe with crack residue.
All three were charged with possession of a controlled substance and sale of a controlled substance, and Jordan was additionally charged with intent to sell a controlled substance.

MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING CABBIE
Police arrested 26-year-old Robert Lawrence for an alleged assault in front of 11 West 19th Street last Friday at 11:53 a.m. The victim said that while he was dropping off a passenger, Lawrence hit his side view mirror with his car, causing no damage. The victim told police that he and Lawrence then got into an argument and Lawrence allegedly punched the cab driver in the face.

MAN BUSTED FOR THEFT FROM SLEEPING SUBWAY RIDER
Police arrested 46-year-old Anthony Boyd last Saturday for allegedly stealing from a snoozing straphanger on January 18.
The victim told police that he got on the Q in Brooklyn on that date at 2 a.m. intending to get off at 86th Street and Second Avenue but said that he fell asleep around the 23rd Street station. He told police that when he woke up, the train was in the 96th Street station and his bag was on the ground with all the zippered pockets opened and his phone, wallet and iPad were all missing. A witness took a photo of the suspect at the time of the incident.

MAN ARRESTED FOR PROSTITUTION AT W. 20TH ST. CLUB
Police arrested a 38-year-old man for prostitution inside the West Side Club at 27 West 20th Street last Friday at 8:55 p.m. Police said that the man agreed to have sexual intercourse with an undercover officer in exchange for cash. The man was also allegedly in possession of a crackpipe and was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.

WOMAN BUSTED FOR SELLING LOOSIES
Police arrested a 51-year-old woman for violating tax law and unlawful peddling in front of 109 East 16th Street last Thursday at 10:52 a.m. Police said that the woman was selling loose Newport cigarettes that had a Virginia tax stamp.
