SUSPECT ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH VIOLENT ROBBERY AT KIPS BAY HOTEL
Police arrested 39-year-old Jose Rivera on Monday, March 5 for allegedly violently robbing a woman at a Kips Bay hotel last November 23.
According to the district attorney’s office, Rivera and 30-year-old Eric Moyler, who was arrested last December, punched a woman at the Evelyn Hotel at 7 East 27th Street. Police said that they also took the victim’s Louis Vuitton bag containing her wallet and cell phone. Moyler allegedly hit another victim with a glass and snatched his wallet from his pocket.
TEEN ARRESTED FOR STALKING EX-GIRLFRIEND
Police arrested a teenager for aggravated harassment, assault and harassment inside the 13th precinct last Tuesday at 10:40 a.m. Police said that the suspect and the victim were in a relationship but broke up and the suspect repeatedly sent messages to the victim, so she blocked him. The victim also told police that multiple friends of the suspect told her that while he was playing with knives, he said he was going to get her and hurt her.
Police said that the suspect has also been seen multiple times waiting outside the victim’s school to the point where the school had to keep her inside the building and ask the suspect to leave the block. The teen also reportedly posted a photo online of her building to warn her that he’s watching her.
The teen’s name is being withheld due to his young age. Police had no further information about where specifically the incident took place.
TIRES SLASHED, MEN ARRESTED FOR FIGHT
Police arrested 58-year-old Abdelmajid Lamsiah and 36-year-old Ryan Ramirez for a fight at the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 14th Street last Friday at 9:02 a.m. Witnesses told police that Lamsiah and Ramirez got into an argument at the corner that escalated when Lamsiah allegedly pulled out a gravity knife.
Police said that Ramirez ultimately grabbed the knife from Lamsiah and slashed all the tires of his car.
Both men were charged with menacing and weapons possession.
MAN BUSTED FOR DRUNK DRIVING
Police arrested 52-year-old Robert Everett for alleged intoxicated driving and impaired driving in front of 163 West 23rd Street last Friday at 3 p.m. Police responded to the location because there had been a car accident and when officers approached the vehicles, Everett was allegedly standing outside his vehicle while the victim was holding his car keys.
The victim told police that Everett had crashed into his vehicle and that Everett was asleep at the wheel when the victim approached, with a strong smell of alcohol coming from Everett’s car.
The victim said that he then took the keys out of the ignition and Everett got out of the car but stayed on the scene until police arrived. Police said that Everett had watery bloodshot eyes, an odor of alcohol on his breath and slurred speech. Everett allegedly refused an IDTU test.
Police recovered multiple unopened cans of Bud Light Limearita from the back seat of his car and an opened bottle of Jose Cuervo from his trunk.
SHOPLIFTING SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER JUMPING ONTO SUBWAY TRACKS
Police arrested a shoplifting suspect after he ran out of the Bed Bath & Beyond at 620 Sixth Avenue, and into the F/M station at 23rd Street on the uptown side. There, he allegedly jumped the turnstile and hopped onto the tracks.
Police said 38-year-old Qiydaar Fields had been spotted by a loss prevention officer at the store who called them to report a theft in progress. When cops arrived, Fields was already allegedly fleeing on foot. However, they caught up with him on the tracks. He was charged with theft of services and criminal trespass.
MAN NABBED FOR BUYING STOLEN BIKE
Police arrested 43-year-old Wen Lin for alleged possession of stolen property at the corner of Third Avenue and East 29th Street last Friday at 6:47 p.m. Police said that Lin knowingly purchased a bicycle that was presented to him as stolen property from a plainclothes officer.
MAN NABBED FOR K2 ON SECOND AVENUE
Police arrested 20-year-old Alexander Casanova for allegedly selling synthetic marijuana in front of 401 Second Avenue last Saturday at 9:56 a.m. Police said that Casanova was seen rolling a K2 blunt on a public sidewalk.
MAN ARRESTED FOR ‘DRUGS’ ON WEST 28TH
Police arrested 55-year-old Sergio Marchena for possession of a controlled substance in front of 40 West 28th Street last Tuesday at 8:49 p.m. Police said that Marchena was stopped in front of the location with a small glassine envelope of alleged cocaine.
TEEN BUSTED FOR TRESPASSING AT STRAUS HOUSES
Police arrested a 16-year-old for trespassing and impersonation inside Straus Houses at 344 East 28th Street last Monday at 9:29 p.m. Police said that the teen was on the roof of the building and was not a resident of the building. He also reportedly told police initially that he was 15 but police later discovered that he was actually 16.
ARREST FOR SELLING COUNTERFEIT SNEAKERS
Police arrested 34-year-old Sadou Sow for alleged forgery and unlawful peddling in front of 40 West 29th Street last Friday at 3:55 p.m. Police said that Sow was selling counterfeit sneakers on a public sidewalk and he allegedly did not have a vendor license.
