Police Watch: Man arrested for car break-in, ‘Dealer’ busted in Kips Bay

MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED CAR BREAK-IN
Police arrested 59-year-old Reinaldo Campbell for alleged burglary at the corner of Broadway and East 20th Street on March 14 at 11:20 a.m. Police said that Campbell was seen casing and pulling on the doors of two commercial vehicles in an attempt to get inside, then got inside another commercial vehicle parked at the corner. He was arrested at the scene and also charged with possession of burglar’s tools and stolen property.

‘DEALER’ ARRESTED IN KIPS BAY
Police arrested 26-year-old Kayshawn Thomas for allegedly trying to sell a controlled substance at the corner of Park Avenue South and East 28th Street on March 14. Police said that Thomas was seen at 4:30 p.m., allegedly exchanging a small object for cash, with another person who wasn’t arrested. When Thomas was searched, he was in possession of alleged crack cocaine and marijuana. Thomas was also charged with sale of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

MAN BUSTED FOR DRUGS, STOLEN CREDIT CARDS
Police arrested 38-year-old Seth Harris for alleged intent to sell a controlled substance in front of 55 West 26th Street on March 16 at 10:36 a.m. Police said that while an EMS worker was helping Harris, he was found to be in possession of a quantity of a controlled substance and alleged drug paraphernalia. Harris was later charged with grand larceny and possession of stolen property while at the 13th precinct. Police said that Harris had identification and debit cards that didn’t belong to him and had allegedly used the cards to make unauthorized purchases.

WOMAN ALLEGEDLY POOPED ON VICTIM’S PROPERTY
Police arrested 19-year-old Somalia Bispham for alleged criminal mischief inside the Administration for Children’s Services facility at 492 First Avenue on March 16 at 5:41 p.m. Police said that Bispham took the victim’s property and put it into a bag, which she then brought into a bathroom and damaged the property by urinating and defecating on it. The victim told police that ACS staff saw Bispham take the property and the victim said that she saw the property was damaged after it was discovered by staff.

TEEN BUSTED FOR STEALING CELL PHONE
Police arrested a teenager for stealing a cell phone last year. Police said that the teen went into a store with friends and then swiped a cell phone from a display table before getting into a physical fight with the store’s manager. The teen, whose name is being withheld due to his young age, was charged inside the precinct on March 15 at 10:40 a.m. No further information about when or where the incident occurred was available.

MAN ACCUSED OF ENDANGERMENT WITH BIKE ‘GANG’
Police arrested 28-year-old Omar Ordenana for alleged reckless endangerment on March 16 at 6 p.m. inside the 13th precinct. Police said that Ordenana was with a number of other bicyclists and they were allegedly riding in a large group the wrong way down busy streets, breaking numerous vehicle and traffic laws and causing a substantial risk of injury to people and property by way of vehicle and pedestrian collisions.

WOMAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT AT IRVING PLAZA
Police arrested 46-year-old Kerri Edge for assault inside Irving Plaza at 17 Irving Place on March 17 at 12:15 a.m. Police said that Edge grabbed the victim by the arm and allegedly scratched her right arm while the victim was attempting to go to the bathroom.

‘SWERVING’ DRIVER ARRESTED ON PARK AVENUE SOUTH
Police arrested 28-year-old Kevin Shewmangal for alleged intoxicated driving at the corner of Park Avenue South and East 26th Street on March 18 at 3:39 a.m. Police said that Shewmangal was driving on Park Avenue South between East 22nd and 26th Streets in the left lane while allegedly swerving into the right lane. When he was stopped at East 26th Street, police said that he had bloodshot, watery eyes, a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, slurred speech and swaying balance.

MEN ARRESTED FOR SLEEPING IN ATMS
Two men were arrested for sleeping in ATM vestibules last week.
Police arrested a 26-year-old man for criminal trespass inside the ATM vestibule at 800 Sixth Avenue on March 15 at 6:20 a.m. Police said that the man was sleeping inside the HSBC bank without permission while it was closed.
Police arrested a 28-year-old man for criminal trespass inside 386 Park Avenue South on March 16 at 6:18 a.m. Police said that the man was seen sleeping inside a Chase Bank vestibule for an extended period without permission.
