Cops looking for man who snatched bag from woman in Stuy Town

Bag-snatching suspect

By Sabina Mollot

Police are on the lookout for a man who grabbed a bag from a woman in Stuyvesant Town last Thursday evening.

The 21-year-old victim was walking along the Avenue C Loop at 11:20 p.m. when a man ran up to her, stole her bag, and took off. The woman, who wasn’t hurt, lost $11 in cash and her credit cards, police said.

Police had no description of the suspect, but in a few fuzzy surveillance photos, he appears to be light-skinned and thin, last seen in a bright orange hoodie and green jacket.

A spokesperson for StuyTown Property Services said management is working with the 13th Precinct to find the suspect.

  1. “management is working with the 13th Precinct to find the suspect.” This comment almost made me wet myself I was laughing so hard.

  2. Ok, I need to ask this. Why is it that we have a ton of security cameras (which we are paying mci’s for eternity on), yet these pictures all appear to be from off the property. Where is the footage of this man on the property???

  5. I recommend everyone download Citizens App and see how much crime goes on here that we don’t hear about from Management (or T&V). Quite an eye opener.

  6. We need some police protection here, especially as Public Safety has been cut to the bone. We pay taxes for police protection we do not get, and we pay perpetual MCI’s for so-called upgrades in our PS department which are totally laughable, except that they are not funny. I hope the young lady who had to fight for her life for over ten minutes while some goon attempted to rape and murder her RIGHT UNDER A SECURITY CAMERA is doing well these days. I also hope that she is suing this bloodsucking landlord for an enormous sum of money.

If I were the parent of a college kid, I would not feel comfortable letting him or her dorm here.
