Man charged with lewdness in ST building

By Maria Rocha-Buschel

Police arrested a man who allegedly exposed himself to a woman in a Stuy Town elevator after he followed her into the building early on Saturday morning.

The victim told police that she was entering 610 East 20th Street at 2:16 a.m. when 27-year-old Anthony Ashley allegedly came into the building behind her. She said that when she got in the elevator, Ashley entered the elevator behind her. When they were inside, he allegedly unzipped his pants and exposed himself.

Police said that Ashley is not a resident of the building. He was charged with public lewdness and trespassing.

  1. What the hell is going on in this place Rick?? Maybe if you let security do there jobs instead of just using them as window dressing, this wouldn’t be a problem. Obviously people know that security is told not to do their jobs here and there is no NYPD patrols, so our tenants are at risk because of what you are doing.

Security walking around and letting tenants into other buildings to fill their laundry cards is not what they are here for. Those are just added perks of having them around. Let them do their jobs, otherwise lawsuits are inevitable Ricky boy.

  2. I live in 20 WSP. Do you know what’s being built right now in Stuyvesant Cove?

  3. The old lady who got her card filled in another building was delighted with the young PS officer whose mother had raised him to be a gentleman. I hope that if (God Forbid) she is ever walking alone and is assailed by one of the ever increasing muggers (and worse) we are seeing so much of, the gentlemanly PS officer will be there to save her life. The chances of assault are ever increasing, but the presence of PS is ever decreasing.
If there’s a rape, death, serious injury perpetrated on a tenant (especially an elderly tenant or female walking alone) it will be on your head Rick. On your head. And your folksy bullshit won’t do you any good whatsoever. Neither will your thoughts and prayers. Just remember that Rick. On your head.

  6. It is not management’s fault when tenants allow strangers to “piggyback” onto them and follow them into the building. This native New Yorker and longtime Stuy. Town resident believes that residents must display responsible behavior, even if it appears impolite, and not allow strangers to enter the building behind them. Not only are they endangering themselves by allowing this, but they are endangering their neighbors and facilitating the theft of packages left by our apartment doors. This is NYC living 101. Signs are posted on the doors and the lobby bulletin boards warning about this. Sorty, Steve, but this is NOT Rick’s fault.

  8. Really… your radar isn’t up at 2:15 in the morning that you’d let someone stroll into the building after you ?? Gee… I don’t want to “blame the victim”, but maybe they need to stay in their “safe space” since they’re obviously dumber than a box of rocks.
