JOHN DOE ARRESTED FOR PUNCHING WOMEN
Police arrested a 19-year-old John Doe for an assault that took place at the corner of Third Avenue and East 17th Street on Thursday, October 4 at 6:14 p.m. The victim told police that she was walking west on East 17th Street when the suspect walked up to her and punched her in the face without provocation. A witness told police that the man had punched another woman in the face as well but that victim was not at the scene by the time police arrived. The victim told police that she had pain on her upper lip and redness on her palm from when she fell on the ground. The suspect was referred to as a John Doe by police because he had no ID when arrested.
WOMAN ACCUSED OF STEALING PURSE AT PARK
Police arrested 38-year-old Dominique Eligin for an alleged theft from the corner of Madison Avenue and East 26th Street on Tuesday, October 2 at 12:48 p.m. Police said that Eligin grabbed the victim’s purse from a bench along the park and fled east on East 26th Street towards Park Avenue South, but the victim caught up with her and allegedly recovered the property from inside her backpack. Eligin was charged with grand larceny, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.
MAN BUSTED FOR EQUINOX BURGLARY
Police arrested 50-year-old William Clanton for an alleged burglary from the Equinox at 315 Park Avenue South during the overnight hours of September 8. Police said that Clanton forced open the door to the gym at 2 a.m. and allegedly stole clothing and electronics. Clanton was arrested for burglary and theft inside the 13th Precinct on Wednesday, October 3 at 9:15 a.m.
MAN ALLEGEDLY SLASHED VICTIM IN UNION SQUARE
Police arrested 29-year-old Hasan Castillo for an alleged assault in front of 5 Union Square West on Wednesday, October 3 at 2:09 a.m. Police said that Castillo stabbed and slashed the back of the victim’s head and neck while in an argument with a third person. Castillo was arrested after police searched the area and found him, and a knife was reportedly recovered from his pants pocket. He was also charged with weapons possession.
MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING VICTIM WITH A CANE IN UNION SQUARE
Police arrested 27-year-old Hakeem Drakes for an alleged assault in front of 5 Union Square West on Wednesday, October 3 at 2:05 p.m. The victim told police that Drakes hit him in the face with a cane, causing a cut to his upper lip. The victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he reportedly received seven stitches for his injury, and Drakes was arrested after officers searched the park. Police said that Drakes and the victim knew each other.
MAN CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE ROBBERIES
Police arrested 50-year-old Eric Manson in front of 55 West 15th Street on Tuesday, October 2 at 6:30 p.m. for two robberies that had allegedly been committed previously.
Police said that Manson entered the Payless store at 600 Sixth Avenue between West 17th and 18th Streets on July 28 at 11:35 a.m. and allegedly waved a weapon under his shirt while demanding money from the register.
Manson reportedly went into the Rite Aid at 501 Sixth Avenue on August 13 at 10:13 a.m. and asked for a job application. Police said that he then left the location but returned shortly after, allegedly telling the cashier that he had a gun and was going to rob the store.
MAN ARRESTED FOR CHOKING, HARASSING GIRLFRIEND
Police arrested a 19-year-old man for assaulting his girlfriend multiple times last week, as well as stealing her cell phone. Police said that the suspect refused to let the victim leave an apartment at 224 East 28th Street on Tuesday, October 2 around 6 p.m., and took her cell phone from her hands, refusing to give it back. The suspect then choked the victim while on Sixth Avenue between 35th and 36th Streets later the same day at 8 p.m. The victim said that she was unable to breathe and as a result of the suspect choking her, she got a cut on her neck.
The suspect was charged with assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, unlawful imprisonment, aggravated harassment, attempted assault and harassment and he was arrested inside the 13th Precinct on Thursday, October 4 at 11:25 a.m.
The name of the suspect is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
MOTORCYCLIST ARRESTED AFTER ACCIDENT
Police arrested 41-year-old Devin Paridias for alleged drunk driving at the corner of Sixth Avenue and West 23rd Street on Wednesday, October 3 at 12:23 a.m. Police were responding to a motorcycle collision at the southwest corner of West 23rd Street and Sixth Avenue and when they arrived, the driver was checked by EMS inside an ambulance. The motorist said that he was driving a motorcycle going east on West 23rd Street and fell due to a slippery road, but police said that Paridias had bloodshot, watery eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Police administered a PBT test and Paridias was also taken to Bellevue Hospital for a blood test, and he was allegedly uncooperative.
MAN NABBED FOR MENACING ON SIXTH AVENUE
Police arrested 50-year-old Raymond Burgos for menacing in front of 725 Sixth Avenue on Saturday, October 6 at 3:17 p.m. Police said that Burgos threatened the victim with a silver knife. When police arrived, the victim told police that the knife was in a black leather case in the suspect’s bag that was on the floor next to him. Police said that the bag was open and the knife case was allegedly sticking out of it.
