Police Watch: Three charged with Barcade robbery, Dog walker arrested for burglaries

THREE CHARGED WITH BARCADE ROBBERY
Police arrested three additional people for an alleged robbery that took place at Barcade on West 24th Street at the end of September. Twenty-seven-year-old Gilberto Morales, 24-year-old Yannick Eva and 25-year-old Sedale Whyte were charged with robbery in connection with the incident. Town & Village previously reported that 27-year-old Adonri Imade was caught at the time of the incident.

The victim told police that he was at the bar playing a game with the four suspects on September 29 around 2:30 a.m. and after he lost a bet, he pulled out his wallet to pay for drinks. Police said that the four suspects attacked him, giving him a cut lip. The victim said that he fell while the three men allegedly continued to kick him, and police said that Imade grabbed his wallet before attempting to flee.

Morales was also charged with assault, and Whyte was also charged with grand larceny for the alleged theft of the victim’s credit card. The three men turned themselves in to the precinct last week. Imade was charged with robbery as well as escape, when she allegedly got out of the police car while handcuffed and reportedly tried to flee.

DOG WALKER BUSTED FOR BURGLARIES
Police arrested 23-year-old Joshua Wilder for burglaries he allegedly committed by using his access as a dog walker to get into victim’s apartments earlier this month.

Police said that Wilder stole a yellow diamond ring valued at $95,000 from the victim’s apartment located within the 13th Precinct on Monday, October 15. The victim told police that Wilder, the dog walker, was the only other person who had a key to the apartment.

Police said that Wilder also removed an iPhone from another victim’s apartment located in the 17th precinct in midtown without permission on Thursday, October 18.

He was additionally charged with a theft in the 94th precinct in Brooklyn in which he allegedly removed a credit card from the victim’s apartment on Friday, October 12. Police said that Wilder attempted to buy a MetroCard with the victim’s American Express credit card. The victim told police that Wilder had also taken a watch valued at $3,500 from his apartment.

Wilder was arrested inside the 13th Precinct on Saturday, October 20 at 5:10 p.m. He was charged with burglary, grand larceny, petit larceny and possession of stolen property.

DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER CRASHING INTO STREETLIGHT
Police arrested 38-year-old Jarrett McGovern for allegedly driving drunk at the FDR and East 23rd Street on Wednesday, October 17 at 2:37 a.m. Police said that McGovern was driving and allegedly crashed into a streetlight pole on the southeast corner of East 23rd Street and the FDR. A witness told police that McGovern then tried to flee the scene of the accident by heading north towards 30 Waterside Plaza.

McGovern was caught at Waterside Plaza and when he was questioned, police said that he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath as well as a confused demeanor and bloodshot eyes. McGovern was charged with intoxicated driving and impaired driving.

MAN BUSTED FOR ASSAULTING EX
Police arrested a 55-year-old man for an alleged assault inside an apartment at 14 East 28th Street on September 3 at 6:20 a.m. The victim told police that he got into an argument with the suspect, his ex-boyfriend, about paying back his grandmother for the money that she lent to him. Police said that the suspect and the victim began to tussle and the suspect allegedly grabbed a knife from the kitchen, trying to stab the victim. The victim said that he blocked his ex-boyfriend and moved out of the way before leaving the location but once he left, he noticed that he was bleeding and that he had been stabbed.

The suspect was also charged with weapons possession and was arrested inside the 13th Precinct on Monday, October 15 at 12:53 p.m. The name of the suspect is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT AT CONCERT
Police arrested 19-year-old Kilby Arthur for assault inside the Gramercy Theatre at 127 East 23rd Street on Thursday, October 18 at 9:02 p.m. Police said that Arthur was attempting to walk up to the stage during a heavy metal concert for the band Dying Fetus and was escorted out by security guards. As he was being escorted out, police said that Arthur spat in the face of one of the guards, allegedly punching him in the face as well, causing him to fall and injure his hand.

MAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULT AT MCSWIGGINS
Police arrested 43-year-old Thomas Rafferty for an alleged assault inside McSwiggins Bar at 393 Second Avenue on October 7 at midnight. Police said that Rafferty was intoxicated and punched the victim in the face. Rafferty was arrested in the 13th Precinct on Monday, October 15 at 2:50 p.m.

MAN NABBED CREDIT CARD STOLEN FROM GYM
Police arrested 26-year-old Naquan Harris for an alleged theft from a Chelsea gym that took place in September. Police said that Harris fraudulently used the allegedly stolen credit card inside Cafe Delicious at 115 West 23rd Street on September 11 at 6:13 p.m. Police said that Harris was an employee of Rumble Gym at 146 West 23rd Street, where the credit card had been taken without permission. Harris was charged with grand larceny ion Tuesday, October 16 at 10 a.m.

TEEN NABBED FOR ASSAULT NEAR UNION SQUARE
Police arrested a teenager for assault at the corner of East 14th Street and Fourth Avenue on Tuesday, October 16 at 4:43 p.m. The victim told police that he and the suspect got into a fist fight from the results of a motor vehicle accident. No further information about the fight was available.

MAN BUSTED FOR DUANE READE BURGLARIES
Police arrested 56-year-old Nicholas Rhodes for alleged Duane Reade burglaries earlier this month. Police said that Rhodes (who shares a name and age with a founding member of Duran Duran, but is not him) took make-up from the Duane Reade at 401 Park Avenue South on Monday, October 15, concealing the items in his sweater before leaving without paying. Rhodes was charged with burglary because police said that he had been issued a “no trespass” affidavit on August 10 when he was arrested and was reportedly warned not to go inside any Walgreens or Duane Reade stores permanently.

Police said that Rhodes also stole make-up from the same Park Avenue South Duane Reade on October 4 as well.

Rhodes was arrested inside the 13th Precinct on Tuesday, October 16 at 10:30 p.m.

Town & Village previously reported that Rhodes was arrested for other alleged incidents of theft.

Rhodes allegedly shoplifted from the Duane Reade at 300 East 23rd Street twice on Monday, July 23. Police said that he also shoplifted from the Duane Reade at 465 Second Avenue the following day at noon, and he was charged with trespassing inside that store at 5 p.m. because went inside the store despite being banned because of the previous incidents. Police said that on Tuesday, August 7 around 6:05 p.m., Rhodes went into the Duane Reade at 401 Park Avenue South and helped himself to hair care products without paying.

MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT IN UNION SQUARE FILM SET
Police arrested 45-year-old Calvin Lilly for assault at the corner of East 16th Street and Union Square East on Wednesday, October 17 at 9:26 a.m. Police said that Lilly attacked the victim while he was working on a film set, punching him in the neck and causing bruising to his jaw, as well as cuts to his forehead.
