Police Watch: Man charged with Union Square assault, Woman punched on East 22nd

MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT OF WOMAN IN UNION SQUARE
Police arrested 25-year-old Gage Quinones for an alleged assault in front of 24 Union Square East on Wednesday, November 7. The victim told police that after she smoked meth with Quinones that morning, they got into an argument that escalated into a fight when Quinones allegedly punched her in the mouth, causing a cut on her bottom lip. Quinones was also charged with criminal contempt.

Quinones has been arrested multiple times within the 13th Precinct, usually in or around Union Square, in the last few years. He was charged with assault in 2016 after police said that he hit a man in the back of the head with a brick, breaking four bones. He also allegedly mugged someone in Union Square in 2014 and assaulted someone with a bike lock in the park this past June.

MAN ALLEGEDLY PUNCHES WOMAN ON EAST 22ND STREET
Police arrested 38-year-old Rashawn Duran for an alleged assault in front of 33 East 22nd Street on Sunday, November 11 at 11:04 a.m. The victim told police that she was walking down the sidewalk when Duran allegedly punched her in the face, causing swelling and bruising. The victim said that there was no previous altercation between them before the alleged assault. Duran was stopped in front of 29 East 22nd Street and the victim and a witness positively identified him. The victim was treated on the scene and removed to Bellevue Hospital.

WOMAN ALLEGEDLY STOLE WALLETS FROM STROLLERS IN UNION SQUARE
Police arrested 24-year-old Patricia Davis in front of 33 East 14th Street on Wednesday, November 7 at 5:26 p.m. for a string of alleged thefts from strollers and stores.

Davis allegedly took a wallet from an unattended stroller that was inside the playground in Union Square Park on July 23. Police said that Davis also took a wallet from a stroller while inside the Barnes and Noble at 33 East 17th Street on July 27. Davis allegedly stole someone’s unattended bag from a library in Queens on July 20 and police said she took a wallet from a diaper bag that was inside a stroller in a Century 21 store in Queens on July 1.

Police said that she also took merchandise from the Marshalls at 620 Sixth Avenue on April 20 and allegedly left without paying.

Davis was charged with grand larceny.

MAN ALLEGEDLY STOLE ELECTRONICS FROM SCHOOL OF VISUAL ARTS LOCKER
Police arrested 36-year-old Phoenix Goines on Thursday, November 8 at around 12:20 p.m. for alleged burglaries. Police said that Goines broke into a locker on the eighth floor of the School of Visual Arts library at 133 West 21st Street on Wednesday, October 31 and took a speaker, a camera stand, a microphone, a music note keyboard, an external hard drive and a USB drive belonging to the school that a student had borrowed. Another student told police that Goines also took a camera, a SBHEC card, an amp and a portable charger from another locker on the same day. Police said that Goines identified himself on the surveillance video and also allegedly had one of the cameras pawned. He was also charged with possession of stolen property.

MAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULT AT STRAUS HOUSES
Police arrested 19-year-old Joel Jackson for an alleged assault inside 344 East 28th Street on Tuesday, November 6 at 12:32 p.m. The victim told police that he got into an argument with Jackson, who alleged punched and scratched him. Police said that while an officer was attempting to handcuff him, he allegedly flailed his arms and legs, causing an injury to the officer. Jackson was also charged with assault of a peace officer and resisting arrest.

TEEN ARRESTED FOR ROBBERY INSIDE STRAUS
Police arrested a teenager this week for a robbery that took place inside Straus Houses at 344 East 28th Street on October 19 around 1 a.m. Police said that the teen, along with three other suspects that were arrested previously, robbed the victim of cash and his phone by grabbing him, with one of the suspects putting his hands around the victim’s throat. The teen was arrested inside the 13th Precinct on Wednesday, November 7 at 10:20 a.m.

DRIVER CHARGED WITH DWI AFTER FLATIRON COLLISION
Police arrested 25-year-old Daryl Osborne for allegedly driving drunk after police said that he was involved in a collision in front of 45 West 18th Street on Friday, November 9 at 6:38 p.m. The victim told police that he was involved in a car accident with the suspect, who allegedly appeared to be intoxicated at the time. Police said that Osborne was slurring his speech, had watery eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. When he opened the passenger’s side door of his car, police saw that there was an open beer can in plain view and when Osborne was searched, he was allegedly in possession of an empty 200 ml bottle of Hennessy cognac.

WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER PULLING FIRE ALARM AT TAJ LOUNGE
Police arrested 26-year-old Dene Guions for alleged reckless endangerment in front of 48 West 21st Street on Saturday, November 10 at 1:56 a.m. An officer who was on a foot post at 59 West 21st Street saw that a fire alarm went off across the street from Taj Lounge at 48 West 23rd Street. Upon further investigation, police found that Guions could allegedly be seen on camera pulling the fire alarm. An employee at the club told police that Guions had been kicked out for being disruptive and after she was kicked out, she allegedly pulled the alarm. Guions was also charged with criminal tampering and false report.

TRESPASSER CAUGHT WITH CRACK, NEEDLES
Police arrested a 46-year-old man for allegedly trespassing inside 224 East 28th Street on Thursday, November 8 at 9:34 a.m. Police said that the man was sleeping on the roof landing of the building, which had a sign that specified restricted access. Police said that the man is also not a resident of the building, and when he was searched, he was also in possession of crack, hypodermic needles containing heroin and crack pipes. The suspect was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.

  1. Is it possible to run a photo of the Union Square assailant for the safety of the general public?

    It would help people avoid such repeated offenders like Gage Quinones if their mug shots accompanied these articles. It seems as though Quinones is seriously mentally ill, but he’s apparently never been held, and is on the loose. What does he look like, so we can look out fo him? If T&V can’t fun the photo, like DNAInfo online used to, is there an NYPD blotter?.
