ACCUSED OF BREAKING WINDOW, MAN THEN ARRESTED FOR PREVIOUS ROBBERY
Police arrested 42-year-old Christopher Keppel for alleged criminal mischief in front of Papaya Dog at 239 First Avenue on Thursday, January 24 at 3:40 p.m. Police said that when Keppel was fighting with an unknown person, he punched the storefront of the business.
After searching the area, an employee of the business spotted Keppel and identified him as the person who had allegedly damaged the window. After Keppel was searched, police found that he was in possession of a bag with a white powder that was inside his boot. Keppel allegedly told police that the bag was his crack.
After he was arrested, Keppel was charged with a robbery that took place in front of 245 First Avenue on January 18 at 5:55 a.m. Police said that Keppel grabbed the victim’s cell phone from his hand and punched him in the face.
MAN CHARGED WITH STEALING UPS HAND TRUCK ON FIRST AVENUE
Police arrested 53-year-old Stuart White for an alleged theft at the corner of First Avenue and East 22nd Street on Wednesday, January 23 at 6:18 p.m. A UPS delivery person told police that White wanted him to collect a package from his house, but the delivery person refused, saying that he was not there to collect packages. The delivery person continued to deliver packages when White allegedly pulled his hand truck away from him and left the scene.
White was charged with petit larceny.
TEEN ARRESTED FOR STEALING FROM CAB DRIVER
Police arrested a 16-year-old boy for stealing from a cab driver earlier this month. Police said that a taxi picked up three passengers on January 9 and when the driver dropped them off at East 22nd Street and Park Avenue South at 7:10 p.m., they allegedly grabbed his cell phone and punched him in the face.
Police said that 20-year-old Isaiah Thomas was also arrested for the alleged robbery on January 17 at the precinct. The third suspect in the incident has not been arrested. The teenager was arrested on Friday, January 25 at 6 p.m. inside the precinct.
PAIR ACCUSED OF THEFT FROM ASSOCIATED
Police arrested 55-year-old Orlando Castillo and 36-year-old Chiyanne Lopez for an alleged theft inside the Associated Supermarket at 409 East 14th Street on Thursday, January 24 at 5:52 p.m. Police said that Castillo and Lopez were working together to allegedly steal items from the store.
Castillo and Lopez were charged with petit larceny and possession of stolen property, and Lopez was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. Police said that Castillo was additionally in possession of stolen credit cards.
SENIOR ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING SISTER IN STUY TOWN
Police arrested a 70-year-old man for an alleged assault inside his Stuyvesant Town apartment on Tuesday, January 22 at 3 p.m. The victim said that she got into an argument about money with the suspect, her brother, which escalated into a fight. The suspect threw the victim into a wall and doorway, and she walked to Beth Israel Hospital complaining of pain to her neck and shoulder. The name of the suspect is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
MAN CHARGED WITH SLIPPER ROBBERY AT FREEHAND HOTEL
Police arrested 38-year-old Jeffrey Figueroa for an alleged robbery that took place in the Freehand Hotel at 23 Lexington Avenue at East 24th Street on December 1, 2018 at 4:05 p.m. Police said that Figueroa took slippers from a guest of the hotel, allegedly confronting the guest and threatening him while demanding his slippers. Police did not have further information about why Figueroa was inside the hotel or where exactly in the hotel the incident took place. Figueroa was arrested on Tuesday, January 22 at 2 p.m. inside the 13th precinct.
MAN ACCUSED OF AGGRESSIVELY PANHANDLING AT MCDONALD’S
Police arrested 27-year-old James Rosario for alleged criminal trespass inside the McDonald’s at 809 Sixth Avenue on Monday, January 21 at 12:48 p.m. Police said that Rosario entered the location several times and was allegedly harassing customers by aggressively panhandling and acting aggressively towards security inside the business. Rosario allegedly tried to take food off of several customers’ trays without permission and the manager of the business said that he told Rosario several times not to return. He was also charged with harassment.
MAN BUSTED FOR PUNCHING MOTHER
Police arrested a 34-year-old man for an alleged assault inside 340 East 23rd Street on Saturday, January 26 at 7:11 a.m. The victim called 911 and said that her son had punched her in the face, causing redness and swelling. The name of the suspect is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
