MASSAGE THERAPIST CHARGED WITH SEX ABUSE
Police arrested 36-year-old Omar Walrond for alleged sex abuse that took place on December 3, 2018, at 10 a.m. inside Metassage at 12 West 27th Street. The victim told police that Walrond, her former coworker who is a licensed massage therapist, allegedly groped her numerous times during a massage session. She said that during the session, she was wearing underwear and Walrond allegedly reached inside to touch her vagina. He also reportedly groped her breast excessively during the session, and she said that she felt extremely uncomfortable during the massage. Police said that the victim used to work in the massage parlor with Walrond.
Walrond was arrested on Monday, January 28 at 8:15 a.m. and was charged with sexual abuse and forcible touching.
MAN BUSTED FOR ALLEGED ATTEMPTED PURSE-SNATCHING ON EAST 15TH STREET
Police arrested 29-year-old Jerome Richards for an alleged attempted theft in front of 210 East 15th Street on Saturday, February 2 at 7 a.m. The victim told police that she was leaving the Third Avenue L station on 14th Street and headed north towards East 15th Street towards her job when she noticed that Richards was following closely behind her. She then crossed East 15th Street and Richards followed, then allegedly attempted to snatch her bag from her three to four times. Richards failed to get the victim’s bag from her and fled the location, but was arrested when the victim searched the area with officers and spotted him nearby.
STUYVESANT TOWN MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING GIRLFRIEND IN APARTMENT
Police arrested a 42-year-old man for an alleged assault inside his apartment on Avenue C in Stuyvesant Town on Tuesday, January 29 at 1:31 p.m. The suspect’s girlfriend told police that he reportedly punched her in the face, causing redness and pain. She also said that she attempted to leave the apartment but he wouldn’t allow her to and allegedly dragged her to the back of the apartment. The victim was treated at Beth Israel. The suspect was charged with unlawful imprisonment and assault. The name of the suspect is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
MAN ACCUSED OF PULLING KNIFE AT PARTY
Police arrested 25-year-old Nicholas Laning for alleged menacing during a party at an apartment inside 240 East 27th Street on Sunday, January 27 at 5:45 p.m. Police said that Laning put a knife to the victim’s throat, causing him to fear for his safety. Laning was arrested on Friday, February 1 at 11:30 a.m. inside the 13th Precinct.
MAN ACCUSED OF BREAKING INTO FLATIRON RESTAURANTS, STEALING BOOZE AND TOOLS
Police arrested 53-year-old Kenneth Williams for alleged burglaries that took place last year.
Police said that Williams was seen on surveillance video entering Bazar Restaurant at 31 West 26th Street on December 22, 2018 at 6 a.m. when the business was closed. Williams allegedly helped himself to $278 worth of electronics and alcohol bottles and a drill from the restaurant.
Police said that Williams went inside Blue Smoke at 116 East 27th Street on December 16, 2018 at 7:20 a.m. when the restaurant was closed and allegedly took $585 worth of alcohol.
Williams arrested on Thursday, January 31 at 6:27 p.m. inside the 13th Precinct and was charged with burglary, petit larceny and criminal trespass.
Prior to his arrest, police also suspected he might be behind four other break-ins at businesses in Greenwich Village in January, Quality Meats, Next Cleaners and La Contenta Oeste Restaurant as well as an office building.
GROUP ARRESTED FOR BOOKING HOTEL ROOMS WITH ‘STOLEN’ CREDIT CARD
Police arrested five people inside the Hayden Hotel at 127 West 28th Street on Thursday, January 31 at 11:40 a.m. after they allegedly tried to reserve rooms in the hotel with a stolen credit card. Police said that 26-year-old Jaquann Washington reportedly tried to use a credit card with someone else’s name to book three rooms at the hotel. A representative at the hotel told police that the credit card used account information that didn’t match the name listed on the card.
Eighteen-year-old Fatima Chifofma and 26-year-old Craig Gooden were allegedly with Washington at the time he reportedly tried to book the rooms. Chifofma was allegedly in possession of property that didn’t belong to her. Police said that Gooden was in possession of credit cards with other people’s names on them and he allegedly told police that he didn’t know the people listed on the credit cards.
Chifofma and Gooden were charged with possession of stolen property. Washington was charged with grand larceny.
Police said that two other people were arrested with the group but their cases are sealed.
MAN BUSTED FOR COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
Police arrested 48-year-old Richard Cartagena for alleged burglaries on Sixth Avenue that took place last November. Police said that Cartagena threw a brick into the window of the Old Navy at 610 Sixth Avenue on November 8 at 3:20 a.m. when the store was closed and took property. Cartagena also allegedly threw a brick into the window of the Modell’s at 607 Sixth Avenue on November 16 at 12:53 a.m. while the store was closed and took items from there as well. Cartagena was arrested on Tuesday, January 29 at 11:45 a.m. inside the 13th Precinct.
