Police Watch: Man accused of slashing friend, Man busted for Irving Place burglary

MAN ACCUSED OF SLASHING FRIEND OVER PHONE, MONEY
Police arrested 54-year-old Christopher Timmons for an alleged robbery that took place outside the Goodwill at 105 West 25th Street on Friday, June 7 at 8:30 a.m. Police said that Timmons, who knew the victim, asked to use his phone, then put the phone in his pocket. When the victim asked for his phone back, Timmons allegedly slashed him with an unknown weapon, causing cuts to his left elbow and right finger. Police said that Timmons and the victim also had an argument about money. Timmons allegedly fled on foot with the victim’s phone, and neither the phone nor the weapon were recovered when Timmons was arrested on Saturday, June 8 at 2:50 a.m. inside the 13th precinct.

MAN BUSTED FOR IRVING PLACE BURGLARY
Police arrested 31-year-old Jeff Seidenberg for an alleged burglary inside 67 Irving Place on Friday, June 7 at 8:20 p.m. Police were responding to a call about an unknown person in the stairwell of a commercial building and when they conducted an interior patrol, they reportedly found Seidenberg hiding under a bench on the 10th floor. When they searched him, they found that he was allegedly in possession of property belonging to one of the businesses in the building. Police said that he did not have permission to be inside the building and he was also charged with criminal trespass and possession of a controlled substance. There are multiple businesses in the building, including Irving Place Surgery & Wellness Center on the floor where Seidenberg was caught, but police did not specify which business he allegedly stole from or what property was taken.

MEN CHARGED WITH ROBBERY OUTSIDE TAJ LOUNGE
Police arrested 27-year-old Levan Easley and 27-year-old Raymond Rodriguez for an alleged robbery at the corner of West 21st Street and Fifth Avenue on Sunday, April 21 at 4:20 a.m. The victim told police that he was leaving the Taj Lounge at 48 West 21st Street when he was attacked by an unknown number of people who hit him in the face and allegedly stole his jewelry. Easley and Rodriguez were charged with robbery and assault on Tuesday, June 4 at 10:40 p.m. inside the 13th Precinct. Two other people were arrested in connection with the incident on May 8 and May 29.

MAN ACCUSED FOR STEALING BAGS FROM BUS BENCH
Police arrested 19-year-old Jermaine Bailey for allegedly stealing someone’s bags in front of 365 First Avenue on Wednesday, June 5 at 2:14 a.m. The victim told police that he was sleeping on a bus stop bench with two bags when four unknown people grabbed his bags. The victim woke up after his bags were taken and he followed the suspects and when he approached them, he called 911. When officers arrived, the victim pointed the suspects out and Bailey was arrested. No other arrests were made.

MAN ARRESTED AT SHELTER FOR STOLEN PACKAGE
Police arrested 50-year-old Jose Gonzalez inside the 30th Street Men’s shelter at 400 East 30th Street on Wednesday, June 5 at 5:57 p.m. for an alleged theft. Police said that Gonzalez removed a package from the lobby of 240 East 24th Street earlier that day.

TEEN NABBED FOR BITING OFFICER
Police arrested a teenager for the assault of a police officer in front of the Administration for Children’s Services facility at 492 First Avenue on Monday, June 3 at 6:54 p.m. An officer was attempting to arrest the girl for a previous incident when the suspect hit the officer, and when she attempted to handcuff the teen, the suspect bit the officer’s right hand, causing a cut to her index and middle fingers. Police did not have further information about the previous incident for which the girl was being detained.

ACS TEENS NABBED FOR ROBBING FRIEND
Police arrested two teenage girls for robbing a friend at the corner of Second Avenue and East 28th Street on Monday, June 3 at 3:07 a.m. The victim told police that she met the two suspects at the intersection and was hanging out with them when they both shoved her to the ground, punched her in the head and took her property. Both suspects were caught shortly after in front of 495 First Avenue and are residents of the Administration for Children’s Services facility on that block. One of the teens was also charged with possession of stolen property. The names of the teens are being withheld because of their young age.

MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT ON WEST 14TH
Police arrested 20-year-old Rene Santiago for an alleged assault in front of 47 West 14th Street on Monday, June 3 at 4:12 p.m. Santiago allegedly hit the victim with a metal object, causing a cut on the victim’s middle finger of the left hand. Police said that Santiago and the victim didn’t know each other and no further information was available about what caused the attack.

MAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING WOMAN IN UNION SQUARE STATION
Police arrested 20-year-old Eddie Guzman for an alleged assault at the corner of Union Square East and East 14th Street on Thursday, June 6 at 4:33 p.m. Guzman allegedly struck the victim in the face inside the subway station, causing her substantial pain. Police said that Guzman and the victim didn’t know each other.

MAN ARRESTED FOR DAMAGING STORES ON WEST 28TH
Police arrested 27-year-old Wayne Swaby for alleged criminal mischief in front of 50 West 28th Street on Tuesday, June 4 at 3:26 p.m. Police said that Swaby knowingly damaged multiple stores using a tape dispenser. Swaby allegedly went into the first store and removed three tape dispensers from a box then left without paying. Police said that he then went into a second store and knocked over a sunglasses display along the wall using the tape dispensers from the first store. He then allegedly walked out of the second store and to a third store, allegedly breaking the store front window, then went inside and allegedly began knocking over merchandise. Police said that he then went into the bathroom in the store and alleged broke the bathroom mirror, toilet and cabinet. He then fled and went to a fourth store, where he allegedly broke the storefront’s window and fled on foot. He was stopped in front of 50 West 28th with cuts on his hands. A tape dispenser was recovered on the scene.
