Cops are looking for a mugger who tried to rob another man for his headphones while riding the M102.

Police said the bus was heading south and as the victim, a 22-year-old man, was about to get off at Third Avenue and 14th Street, an unknown man snuck up behind him and tried to pull off his headphones.

The victim was able to grab them back, but the mugger didn’t give up, instead putting the victim in a headlock. The victim was able to push the other man off him, at which point, the mugger told him, “Don’t stare at me,” before fleeing the bus.

The incident occurred on Saturday, April 20 at about 10 p.m., but the NYPD released the information on Monday.

A man was stabbed to death at the Riis Houses complex near East 12th Street, on Monday night.

At about 8:45 p.m., police responded to a call about an assault in front of 1115 FDR Drive and found a 27-year-old man who’d been stabbed in the stomach. Police said the victim had been arguing with someone in front of 466 East 10th Street and the fight turned physical. The man, who was in and out of consciousness when police arrived, was taken to Bellevue but couldn’t be saved. Police took a “person of interest” whose name hasn’t been released into custody but as of Tuesday there have been no arrests.

The investigation remains ongoing and police are withholding the identity of the victim pending proper family notification.

Update: Police have arrested Christopher Dixon, 26, a resident of 710 East 9th Street, in connection with this incident. The victim has been identified as Phibeon Smalls, who lived in the same building.

Cops are on the lookout for three teenagers believed to be responsible for a brutal beatdown at the McDonald’s at 404 East 14th Street.

According to police, on Saturday, December 29 at 8 p.m., the three teens were harassing an elderly couple at the restaurant, located across the street from Stuyvesant Town. At some point, another customer, a 44-year-old man, tried to stop them and the group then turned on him instead, punching and kicking him in his face and on his body. The attackers then ran out, heading east.

The victim, who had cuts on his face along with pain and bruises on his face and body; was taken to Beth Israel, and later released.

The first suspect is described as male, black, 14 to 17 years old, 5’7″ tall and 140 lbs. He last seen wearing a pink hooded sweater, black sweatpants and black and white sneakers.

The second suspect is described as female, black, 14 to 17 years old, 5’8″ and 135 lbs., with red or light brown hair. She was last seen wearing gray hooded sweater, a black jacket, red and yellow pants and gray and white sneakers.

The third suspect is male, black, 14 to 17 years old, 5’5″, 170 lbs., and had eyeglasses. He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweater, a beige jacket and blue jeans.

Cops are looking for a gunman who robbed a 28-year-old man in the East Village at around 5:45 a.m. on Thursday.

The victim was in front of 201 Second Avenue and East 13th Street when a man turned a gun on him and demanded his phone. The victim refused and kept walking and the mugger hit him several times on his head before fleeing emptyhanded. The victim was treated for multiple cuts at Bellevue Hospital.

The suspect is described as black and 20-30 years old and was last seen wearing a yellow/blue hooded jacket, black pants and gray sneakers.

Police are looking for a man who threatened a Target employee with a box cutter when he was caught shoplifting at the store at 500 East 14th Street.

On Friday, November 23 at about 2:45 p.m. the man strolled into the store and proceeded to take diapers, body wash, lotion and deodorant without paying, police said. When he was confronted by a store security worker, the man pulled out the box cutter, while warning the victim, “I will cut you.”

He then fled with the merchandise.

The suspect, who was seen on fuzzy surveillance video, is described as being about 5 ft 6 ins. tall. He is being sought for robbery.

Suspect arrested for robbery at Mona’s Bar and others

Police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with four armed robberies, including a holdup at a bar near Stuyvesant Town.

Police said the suspect, Sanjay McBayne of Carroll Street in Brooklyn, was arrested on Saturday after police received a tip through the Crime Stoppers hotline.

Police said the most recent incident was on Thursday, October 4 at around 2 a.m., when McBayne strolled into Mona’s Bar and Grill at 224 Avenue B between East 13th and 14th Streets, and turned a gun on an employee, demanding cash. After getting away with $700, he allegedly fled towards 14th Street.

The other incidents were all in Brooklyn. From September 26 to October 3, McBayne allegedly hit three businesses, a Duane Reade, Kilo Bravo nightclub and a Metro PCS store. Police said in those three alleged robberies, he approached an employee and then threatened the victim with a gun, netting a total of $815.

McBayne has been charged with four counts of robbery.

Thief steals credit card from building on E. 13th St., then shops at Target

Police are looking for a thief who stole a Visa credit card from a building on East 13th Street and First Avenue and then spent $327, using the card at Target.

Police released the information this week although the incident occurred on Sunday, September 14 at 8 a.m. Police say the man got into the lobby of the building where the 31-year-old victim lives and took the credit card although it wasn’t clear how he got in or if he swiped the card from a mailbox or an open area where mail was lying around. He then headed to the Target store at East 14th Street and Avenue A.

The suspect is a light-skinned man who appears to be in his 20s and tall. He was last seen wearing a white baseball cap, a black tee-shirt with “thumbs up” written on the front and light gray jeans and white sneakers.

Police are looking for a man who stole a purse that was hanging from a coatrack at the Brazen Fox Night Club on Third Avenue between East 13th and 14th Streets.

Police said that the bag, belonging to a 26-year-old woman, was swiped on Sunday, September 16 at about 10:30 p.m. It contained $500 in cash as well as credit cards, which were later used to make unauthorized transactions in Bushwick.

The suspected thief is described as black, approximately in his 60’s, tall; and was last seen wearing a light and dark striped button up shirt, light gray dress pants, brown shoes, a dark hat and glasses and was seen carrying a black briefcase.

Cops say man tried to rape woman in East 13th Street building

Police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to rape a woman in a residential building at 620 East 13th Street between Avenues B and C.

Police said the suspect, who has since been identified as Julio Mendez, 43, approached the victim, a 46-year-old woman on Saturday at 11:15 p.m. while she was in the building’s laundry room.

While police said it’s unknown what the man’s relationship was to the woman, he has been known to frequent the building, Tanya Towers, which offers low-income housing as well as being home to an organization that offers supportive housing and other services to people who are hard of hearing and have vision impairments.

Mendez, police said, started talking to the victim and convinced her to follow him outside. He then grabbed her by the arm and neck and the victim, in her struggle to get away from him, fell to the ground. Mendez allegedly then covered her mouth and tried to pull of her clothing. The victim continued to try to fight him off as he sexually assaulted her, police said, eventually running off when the victim screamed.

The woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where she has since treated and released.

Mendez is described as a male Hispanic, 5’6″, 160lbs, with an average build, medium complexion, short black hair and brown eyes. Police are unsure of where he lives.

Police are looking for a man who stole a purse from an 81-year-old woman after convincing her he needed to get into her apartment to fix a leak.

The man, who was Hispanic and casually dressed in a t-shirt and beach hat, knocked on the woman’s door in the vicinity of East 13th Street and Second Avenue on Friday afternoon. After tricking her into letting him inside, he helped himself to her purse and left the building. The victim’s purse contained $100 and her IDs.

Woman stole cash and register from restaurant

Cops are looking for a female burglar who broke into a restaurant in Union Square and stole cash.

On March 30 at about 4:15 a.m., police said the woman got into the basement of Trece, a Mexican restaurant and bar at 53 East 13th Street near Broadway, through an unsecured door. Once inside she took a cash register, which according to police, contained $300.

A worker at the restaurant told Town & Village the actual amount was $1,000, because it also contained envelopes containing employees’ pay.

Cops are looking for a man who violently robbed two women in their East Village apartment buildings on St. Patrick’s Day.

At about 12:30 a.m. ion Saturday, a man followed a 22-year-old woman into her building lobby at East 13th Street and Avenue B. He then threw her to the ground and punched her several times. He grabbed her bag before fleeing the scene.

At about 2 a.m. the same man followed a 31-year-old woman into her building in the vicinity of Houston and Avenue B. Claiming he had a gun, he pushed her into a corner and demanded money. When the victim refused he struck her over her left eye, leaving her with a cut. He then grabbed her bag, which contained $40 and credit cards and fled east on 2nd Street.

Both victims refused medical attention at the scene.

The suspect is described as Hispanic and about 5’10.” He was last seen wearing a black jacket, dark blue sweat pants, white sneakers and white cap.

Car break-in on East 11th

Police are looking for a man who broke into a car parked on East 11th Street between Avenues A and B, making off with roughly $2,500-worth of electronics and clothes.

It was last Wednesday at 9 p.m. when the man used some sort of object to pry open the door to get inside the car, which was located outside 526 East 11th Street.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, around 35 years old, 5’5″ and 155 lbs. with a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a green hat, black sneakers, black jacket and dark blue jeans.

Police Watch: Man wanted for robbery, Woman arrested for assault

Police are looking for two men who robbed and kicked a 62-year-old woman on East 5th Street between Avenues C and D on Saturday, August 19 around 8 p.m. Police said that the two suspects followed the woman down the street and kicked her, causing her to fall to the ground, and fled with her purse. Police said that the victim sustained bruising and swelling.
The first suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his twenties and was last seen wearing a blue jersey with the number “12” on the front, blue jeans and wore his hat backwards. The second suspect is described as a black man in his twenties who was shirtless and wearing his hat backwards.

Police arrested 56-year-old Deborah Sanders for an alleged assault in the lobby of 141 East 23rd Street, a residential building for seniors, last Monday at 11:20 a.m. Police said that Sanders got into an argument with a 69-year-old woman over the victim taking photos of her. Sanders then allegedly smacked and punched the victim in the face, causing cuts to her forehead and mouth. Police said that the suspect and victim did not know each other.

Police are hunting a robber they say threatened to shoot a man who was stuck in traffic in Union Square.

According to police, the victim, a 35-year-old man, was in his car on East 13th Street between Broadway and Fourth Avenue, when the other man opened the rear door and got in. He then demanded money, threatening to shoot the victim if he didn’t comply. The victim turned over his cash and the mugger fled the car. It isn’t clear if he actually had a gun.

The incident occurred on July 21, but police only released an advisory on Thursday night.

The suspect is described as black with a dark complexion and 30-35 years old. He was last seen wearing a white short sleeved shirt, black and blue baseball cap and dark sunglasses.
