On Saturday, Stuyvesant Town held a music festival on the Oval, showcasing four bands, including Beatles tribute group Prefab 4. Other acts were kids’ music band Tim & the Space Cadets, Aljam & The Reggaelution Band and swing/jazz band Double Down.

Throughout the day, the lawn was blanketed by an all-ages crowd, with the center taken up by the usual mix of sunbathers who seemed oblivious to the music. On either side of the unofficial hot body contest were picnicking families and others watching the bands on lawn chairs under the shade of trees. There were also a number of activities for kids such as bounce houses, a crafts station, glitter tattoos, a t-shirt tie dye table and Imagination Playground, a collection of oversize spongy blue pieces that encourage free play. There was also a giant checker board, a photo booth and hula hoops.

Upcoming events in Stuy Town this summer include Wednesday double feature movie nights (at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.) through August 12.
