ACCUSED SHOPLIFTER AT GOODWILL ALLEGEDLY HIT EMPLOYEE WITH HELMET
Police arrested 38-year-old Nicholas Vandermillen for an alleged robbery inside the Goodwill at 220 East 23rd Street on Saturday, January 5 at 10 a.m. Police said that Vandermillen took a helmet from a display inside the store and attempted to leave without paying for it. An employee then confronted him, and this turned into an argument outside the store.
Police said that Vandermillen then spilled coffee in the victim’s face and both he and the victim fell to the ground. Vandermillen allegedly stood up while the victim was still on the ground and grabbed the helmet with his left hand, then swung it and hit the victim in the face with the intention of causing physical harm.
Vandermillen was also charged with petit larceny and possession of stolen property.
TEEN ASSAULTS EMPLOYEE AT WASHINGTON IRVING BUILDING
Police arrested a teenager for assaulting a Department of Education employee inside the Washington Irving campus at 40 Irving Place on Thursday, January 3 at 11:53 a.m. Police said that the teen punched a DOE parent coordinator in the head, causing pain to the left side of her face. The coordinator was removed to Beth Israel Hospital for treatment.
Police arrested a woman for an alleged theft from the NoMad SoulCycle location at 12 West 27th Street earlier this month. Police said that 32-year-old Lauren Woods stole cash and prescription pills from lockers inside the locker room on three different dates between July 24 and August 17.
According to the district attorney’s office, Woods could be seen on surveillance video entering the gym’s locker room on Tuesday, July 24 around 6:50 a.m. while carrying a pink shopping bag. Police said that she could be seen on the video opening a locker and removing multiple items from a bag, putting the items in her shopping bag and leaving the locker room. The woman whose bag Woods allegedly stole from in this incident told police that two bottles of Adderall were missing from her bag.
The DA’s office said that Woods could be seen on surveillance video again on Monday, August 13 at 6:45 a.m. with a pink shopping bag and allegedly went into a locker and removed cash. The second victim told police that $180 in cash was missing from her bag when she went to check on it.
MAN BUSTED FOR UP-SKIRTING PHOTO NEAR STUYVESANT TOWN
Police arrested 33-year-old Lamberty Sabriel for obscene material and sexual abuse near Stuyvesant Town last Thursday at 8:50 p.m. The victim told police that she was walking on East 18th Street towards First Avenue when she noticed Sabriel walking closely behind her. She then felt someone touch her under her skirt on her buttocks. When she turned to see who was touching her, Sabriel allegedly had his phone under her skirt and took a picture.
PAIR WANTED FOR ASSAULTING 75-YEAR-OLD MAN ON WEST 14TH
Police are looking for two people believed to be behind an attack on a 75-year-old man on West 14th Street last Wednesday.
According to police, a man punched the victim in the back of the head and knocked him to the ground at 2:12 p.m. in front of 120 West 14 Street, home to a Salvation Army. The suspect then kicked the victim in the face, knocking him unconscious. The second suspect, a woman, stood by as a lookout and the suspects then fled eastbound on West 14th Street. The victim had a cut on his head and was brought to Lenox Hill Hospital in stable condition.
The first suspect is a black man who has black hair with a red streak in it. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, beige pants and a black and gray backpack. The second suspect is a black woman who was last seen wearing a green dress with a hood over her head and black sneakers.
