WOMAN ARRESTED FOR STUY TOWN PACKAGE THEFT
Police arrested a 39-year-old woman on Wednesday, February 19 at 10 a.m. for a theft that occurred in 2019. Police said that the woman was seen on video removing packages from 620 East 20th Street on December 2. The woman was charged with grand larceny inside the 13th precinct.
MAN NABBED FOR THEFT IN WATERSIDE PLAZA GRISTEDES
Police arrested a 19-year-old man for a theft from the Gristedes at 25 Waterside Plaza on Monday, February 17 at 9:43 p.m. A witness told police that the suspect, who was an employee at the store, removed items without permission and left without paying. The suspect was charged with petit larceny and possession of stolen property.
MEN BUSTED FOR SEPHORA THEFTS, ROBBERY
Police arrested an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old man for thefts from the Sephora at 119 Fifth Avenue on Friday, February 21 at 2:56 p.m. Officers said that they were investigating a grand larceny pattern in Sephora stores throughout the city when a group of 10 individuals were spotted casing the Sephora at 45 East 17th Street, then left and headed north on Broadway and west on East 19th Street, where they cased the location on Fifth Avenue. Police said that three of the individuals then entered the location and took merchandise without paying. Plainclothes officers then followed them, and after a brief chase, two of the suspects were arrested and the property was recovered.
The 18-year-old was charged with possession of stolen property and the 20-year-old was charged with grand larceny, possession of stolen property and possession of marijuana.
MAN CHARGED WITH GRAMERCY APARTMENT BURGLARY
Police arrested 52-year-old Santiago Ferreira for an alleged burglary inside 125 East 17th Street at Irving Place on Sunday, April 28 at 2 a.m.
The victim told police that he was out at a diner when an unknown person broke into his apartment by forcing the front door open. He said that when he returned home around 12:45 a.m., his door was open and the apartment was a mess with a number items having been taken. The victim said that the deadbolt had been broken and was on the floor, and there were also items in the apartment that didn’t belong to him. He told police that he spoke to his neighbor, who said that he heard noises around 6 p.m. that evening.
While waiting for the NYPD evidence collection team, the victim was pinging his MacBook so that it would make an audible noise when Ferreira allegedly came into the apartment with the victim’s stolen items. It was unclear why Ferreira went to the victim’s apartment with the allegedly stolen property but police said that he also lives in the building.
Ferreira allegedly told police that a friend gave him the victim’s stolen items, so police are still looking for a second possible suspect in connection with the actual apartment break-in.
MAN BUSTED FOR SELLING HEROIN OUTSIDE 30TH STREET SHELTER
Police arrested 46-year-old Vincent Franco for sale of a controlled substance outside the 30th Street Men’s Shelter at 400 East 30th Street last Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Police said that Franco sold a quantity of alleged heroin to an undercover officer for cash.
MAN ALLEGEDLY SOLD XANAX WITH CHILD NEARBY
Police arrested 52-year-old William Torres for sale of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child at the corner of First Avenue and East 24th Street last Wednesday at 7:49 a.m. Police said that Torres sold Xanax to an undercover officer while in custody of an 8-year-old child. Torres was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Francisco Vazquez, 59, and Kevin Sullivan, 32, also allegedly sold Xanax to an undercover officer at the same time nearby in front of 318 East 23rd Street. Vazquez and Sullivan were both charged with sale of a controlled substance and Sullivan was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance.
MAN ARRESTED FOR CAR THEFT NEAR STUYVESANT TOWN
Police arrested 47-year-old Alexander Owens for grand larceny auto at the corner of East 16th Street and Avenue C last Saturday at 3:17 p.m. Police said that Owens stole the victim’s car and attempted to flee on the FDR before he was arrested.
MAN BUSTED FOR MUSHROOMS ACROSS FROM STUY TOWN
Police arrested 23-year-old Shadi Torres for possession of a controlled substance in front of 309 First Avenue last Saturday at 12:04 a.m. Police picked up Torres for an unrelated previous incident and when he was searched, he was allegedly in possession of two bags of psychedelic mushrooms.
